“Would return in a heartbeat”

Wonderful experience. Staff treated us like family, and the facilities were spotless. We were treated to a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner upon arrival, then a delicious hot breakfast the next morning. Thanks Hampton Inn of Barstow!

“Another Great Hampton Stay!!”

We always like to stay at a Hampton Inn when we travel because we know what to expect and are never dissatisfied. The Hampton in Barstow exceeded our expectations -- it was super clean, quiet and nicely decorated. The breakfast area had plenty of room, comfortable chairs, and a wide variety of items to choose from. Everyone working there went out of their way to answer our questions or offer assistance in a pleasant, courteous fashion. Highy recommend...

Area recommendations

Am not familiar with this city other than staying at the Hampton one night. I liked being located on the outskirts of town for ease of travel. Also, places to eat close by and easy to get back on interstate.

“Baby elephants upstairs”

“Will definitely return”

Our stay at the Hampton Inn and Suites at Barstow was just an overnight stop on the way to a seminar. The service was excellent and all staff members were helpful and courteous. We arrived late and were glad of the complimentary beverages and snacks available, plus the coffee maker in the room was a plus. The beds were comfortable and the television offered more than the "few" channels available at other hotels. The free breakfast in the morning was small, but adequate to start our morning drive and continue on to the convention.

“If you must stay in Barstow, this hotel is the place to stay”

The hotel is very clean, quiet, modern and very well-maintained. Front desk staff, housekeeping and breakfast staff were all friendly and helpful during our three day stay. Beds are especially comfortable, and the included buffet breakfast offers a reasonable variety of healthy foods. Free cookies, tea & coffee are available at all times. The hotel is located right next to the Tanger outlet mall, which has some good shops, and is a very short drive from a variety of chain restaurants and cafes, including Starbucks and Chipotle Grill. It is about 5 miles from downtown Barstow. Unless you need to be right in town, I'd highly recommend staying in this area.

Area recommendations

I cannot recommend Barstow as a destination in itself. The downtown is bleak, as are many of its neighborhoods, although there are some murals worth noting in historic downtown. Restaurants are mostly fast food chain establishments with little variety. The area around the Barstow community college is nice, as is the campus itself. I recommend staying at a hotel near the outlets because it is more appealing and less depressing than the downtown area.

“Just The Ticket”

Barstow is on the way to elsewhere: Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Sedona, any number of places. Itʻs not a destination. We left the Bay Area headed for the Grand Canyon and couldnʻt drive any further the first day. We didnʻt expect much, but this hotel was great. Extremely nice people and quiet. It is set back from the highway and separate enough from the other businesses to be an island of quiet, especially on the non-highway side. It is adjacent to an outlet store mall (which could be a plus) which shuts down before evening so it is very quiet. We planned on shopping but ran out of time. Not much of a view, but very pleasant, large rooms, well-furnished, clean, up-to-date styling. The free breakfast was really nice (especially the excellent fresh fruit). Nice laundry room. They convey a concern for the environment which I appreciated. We liked it so much we stopped again on our way back! Loved it. Go to Chipotle nearby for dinner (or lunch?), surprisingly great.

Dining

Chipotle is, of course, Mexican. Set up like a Subway where you follow your meal through an assembly line and pick and choose the contents, the results are great. Very fresh. The "hot" hot sauce was not, but it was okay. The decor is fun and casual. We hadnʻt tried it before and were a little leary, but were very pleasantly surprised. It is very close to the hotel, and we ran across it by accident just wandering around. Terrific.

“Hampton Barstow”

We were very pleased with our stay and Hampton suite! The only thing we recommend changing is the location of the television. It is located in the center of the suite along the wall but can not be turned enough to be viewed from the sofa. Otherwise, everything was great.

“stop over”

Barstow most likely was one of those quiet small towns that has been plowed over by the new America of chain-store malls, casinos, and fast food. Once inside the hotel it is comfortable however even the aesthetics of the hotel are somewhat odd/fake as no surface is what it appears to be- formica made to look like wood etc. but it is comfortable. Barstow is a perfect stop over to death valley on the way out of Los Angeles especially if you have to work that day. The ride from there onward is beautiful and best done in the daytime.

“Very nice”

The room decor was lovely; bed very comfortable; if you need to stay overnight in Barstow this is an excellent choice.
