“The hotel is worn but the beds are comfy.”

The hotel is older and needs upgrading. It was easy to find and the staff was very pleasant.

Area recommendations
You must go to the Firemen's restaurant acroos the street for supper. It was the best chicken picatta we had ever had.

“Windy Barstow”

We needed easy access room because husband uses oxygen equipment. Our room was far from office and where breakfast was served. No coffee machine in room. Had to enter room through outside door into hall using key everytime. A big tree limb fell during wind storm and could have but didn't hit our car.

“Barstow Motel”

For a decent motel at an affordable price, the California Inn as fine. At less than $50/night, it was better than I expected it would be. Just needed a quick stop in Barstow, and didn't want to spend the closer to $100/nt or more that several other motels closeby offered. Hard boiled eggs and fruit accompanied the usual continental breakfast items. Would've been nice if they provided shampoo and in room coffee maker, thought he lobby has coffee 24 hours.

Area recommendations
In Barstow for the District 37 LABV Dual sport motorcyle ride. The California Inn was right next door to the ride's headquarters, making it convenient.

“Barstow”

marginally acceptable for an overnighter. Wouldn't stay any longer. Great Italian restruant accross the street

“Very basic but clean”

A very basic hotel but everything was clean and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was a basic continental but we were pleased there was some fresh bananas for the kids. Ok for a one nighter and very reasonably priced. Close to restaurants and a Starbucks.

“OK for an overnight”

Our room in the back block of the motel was a considerable distance from the street and from the railroad tracks - we heard neither street traffic nor the railroad. The room was moderately large and contained both a good sized refrigerator and a microwave. The king size bed was comfortable. The breakfast area was moderately large and the breakfast was adequate. The only "turn-off" was a musty smell in the hallways and in the room. We immediately aired out the room, and it wasokay after that.

Area recommendations
The area around this motel was the only area in Barstow with an adequate selection of motels and restaurants (we walked only a short block for a good Italian meal)
Dining
The Firehouse Italian restaurant 1/2 block south of California Inn has a variety of food and a great atmosphere. Must be a favorite of the locals, as the place was full on a Thursday night off-season.

“Comfortable and Friendly Staff”

The hotel is clean and staff are friendly. They make you feel welcome. There's plenty of parking. It is near restaurants and within walking distance. The breakfast is decent. Free Internet access, too. Great place for the price. We stopped-by Calico, Ghost Town on our way to Vegas.

Must see
Visit Calico, Ghost Town. Learn about how the silver miner live during that era. Experience the tunnel they have left behind and don't forget to ride the train and visit their stores.

“Would stay again”

This was just what I needed. It was easy to find. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast wasn't fabulous, but it was a typical continental breakfast...enough to get you going. I would stay there again.

“not impressed at all”

will not stay there again the place was very hot when we got there the air was not on the temp was 110 there look like the air should have been low or something we asked to b moved to a room where it was cooler the people said for another 10 dollars
