“Maybe”

The hotel is situated in a perfect location for getting to the downtown area. The staff were all friendly and the breakfast was fine. However, when you book a room you will be given a room that is not the best. While we had a view of the bridge, the room faced the street and it was very very noisy both in the early morning and late in the evening (there are several pubs and restaurants close by). Would recommend checking to see where your room is located based on the Johnson Street bridge and book on the opposite side if possible.

“Wondertul location!”

We loved the Regent Waterfront - the location was incredible. Watching water taxis & float planes come into the Victoria harbour from our balcony, what more could anyone want. Great location to get out and walk around the beautiful little city of Victoria.

“Understated comfort!”

With some business to attend to in Victoria, I invited my wife to join me and make a mini-vacation out of the trip. The weather was supposed to be fall-like with rain predicted but turned out sunny and brisk. The location of the hotel was terrific - I could get to my meetings in minutes and my wife tried out several jogging/walking trails around the harbour, across the bridge, and through the parks. Dining was delightful with dozens of great restaurants within walking distance. The hotel room was well appointed - comfortable, quiet, and clean. We met some of the hotel residents and they were very proud of their building - and it showed. The only improvement I would suggest would be another chair in the room. Parking was underground and a bit awkward with our larger SUV but there were always spots available (no charge). The hotel also provided a free breakfast with hot cereal (Red River), eggs, muffins, toast, bagels, cereal, yogourt, fruit, and delicious coffee. We're looking forward to staying at the Regent again soon.

Area recommendations
The waterfront and nearby shopping, restaurants, and bars. There's always something going on on the streets - buskers, musicians, painters, handicraft displays, and such. The shops seem to carry quality items rather than "touristy" throw-aways. And there's dining of all kinds. We quite enjoyed the Irish and Scottish pubs with good food, great brews, and live entertainment.

“A Hit Again.”

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and are glad we did. This time we got a room with a gorgeous view of the harbour and were upgraded to a two bedroom. This hotel is on the inner harbour and mere steps from the BC Royal Museum and Madame Tassaud's. I brought along a friend this time who had never been to Canada and he was completely impressed with Victoria, including our room. The view and the accessibility to Downtown Victoria made it great for a first time Victoria tourist.

Area recommendations
The Inner Harbour at Night is beautiful. The Parliament is lit up and there smell of the flowers that Victoria is known for fills the air. It is magical.

“Loved the VR Hotel!”

In our opinion, this is a first class hotel, conveniently located to the harbor area and the downtown, with a variety of restaurants just a block or two away. Service was very good, and the room was clean and spacious. We had a suite over-looking the harbor which we would recommend, very romantic! We would definitely stay again at the VR.......

Area recommendations
It is very fun to just wander the streets within six blocks of the hotel, see the older buildings, people-watch, get food, and stroll the harbor walk.

“Great Location, Super Clean, Helpful Staff - Would stay there again.”

We took the city view room which was just fine considering a few steps out the door gives you a harbor view. We just had a regular room (no suite) which some might find a little small but considering we were really only there to sleep, it was fine. Nice size balcony with a view of the night life, but once the door was closed, it was quiet. Bed was super comfortable and the pillows dreamy - wouldn't mind having the bed, comforter and pillows in my home. Room was spotless. Complimentary bottled water and ice brought to the room every night. I have stayed at the Empress twice before - would pick the Victoria Regent over the Empress. Room was nice and bright during the day, room darkening curtains worked well at night. The only thing to make the bathroom better would be a hand held shower (personal preference). There are a lot of hotels in the area but this one is a safe bet and we would stay there again. The room for the continental breakfast is worth at least one visit for breakfast. Air conditioner in the room worked super well and it was 27 degress outside during the day. No microwave in the room we had - not sure if larger rooms have one but we never missed it as there are tons of places to eat or snack in the area, even really late at night. Felt totally safe walking the area at night. Loved the underground parking. The air conditioner conked out on us one night and was fixed by the time we came back a couple of hours later.

Area recommendations
Drive or walk Douglas Street to Beacon Hill - or better yet, take a horse drawn carriage ride through Beacon Hill Park in the early evening. Relaxing, romantice, fun. And spend time on the inner harbor/Fiserhman's Whart. Could spend all day watching the boats & buskers, sampling the food and just taking in the fresh ocean air. Salmon fishing and Whale watching were at the top of our list as well.
When to go
As often as possible. We were there in September this time. May is also great.
Getting around
Rent a car with a GPS or bring your own. Take a carriage ride or 2. If you like to walk, this is the place to be. Whether you can walk a long distance or only a short distance, you won't be disappointed.
What to pack
Comfortable walking shoes, dress in layers. September weather was warm (+27) during the day but cool at night, especially on or near the water. Casual clothes with a jacket or wrap for evening strolls on the harbor.
Must see
Whale watching, Floating Home Village, Fisherman's Wharf and Beacon Hill Park and the buskers on the inner harbor.
Dining
Too many good places to eat to mention but The Flying Otter, Barb's Fish and Chips and Sauces would be at the top of our list.

“Would return in a flash”

The Victoria Regent has a small unobtrusive entrance that hides a spacious clean beautiful accommodation. The waterfront views are fantastic and everything is comfortable and well done. We stayed on the waterfront side in a one bedroom suite that Expedia got for a great rate. The location is close to everything and the view from the balcony is first rate.

Area recommendations
Alongside Beacon Hill Park is a small quaint little area known as Cook Street Village. It's really worth the walk. In fact all the walkways listed in the Visitor Centre brochure,"Walk & Run Downtown Victoria" are well worth the effort.

“Fantastic Downtown Victoria Location”

Stayed in August 2011. The location of this hotel was fantasic, we were less than 10 minutes walk from every major Victoria landmark... downtown shopping and restaurants, Parliament Buildings, the Empress, Museums, Inner harbour, and Beacon Hill Park. Fisherman's wharf is a 25 minute walk. The room was huge and clean and very comfortable.
