Disappointed in this Hotel.

Posted 18-May-2015
Good Staff. The website information and pics is not reflective of actual conditions. A staff member did what he could to upgrade my room to their "executive " room, but that room was damp and musty too. Bathtub was not clean, dirt/mold present. Clearly an old place that no one wants to maintain, and it does not have to be like this.

Unclean

Posted 10-May-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: I understand that it is a basic hotel, but I think at least it should still be clean.
Location: Bus tour, and tour to the Butchart gardens.
The room was basic which was fine for the price. The tv was old and blurry, the bath had not been cleaned well and still had black hair up the side.

Close to save on center.

Great location, that's why we come back. Fairly cheap for what you get. Our beds had no blankets on them. Just a top sheet. Too tired to care at that point in the night though. Various trim and outlet covers missing, electrical outlet didn't work. But we are low maintenance and know what to expect.

Not worth it

Posted 07-Apr-2015
This hotel was not worth it. It is outdated, dingy and noisy. The only plus is that it was within walking distance to most attractions. I would not stay here again or recommend any one else stay here.

Cons: Fix broken, non functioning plumbing. Change carpeting.
Carpets stained; toilet bowl stained; sink clogged. Yuk!

Comfortable beds

Posted 29-Mar-2015
Pros: Location, price, and beds
Cons: Clean bathroom mirrors
The hotel is very central and reasonably priced. The front desk service was very helpful. The bathroom mirrors in both rooms were not clean but the room seemed to be fine.

Hotel Staff Noisy

Posted 27-Mar-2015
Location: Close to Chinatown. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. About a 20 min walk to the parliament buildings/bc royal museum.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in March. Our first impression was poor as the hotel looks nothing like the picture posted here - the outside appears rundown, old and the sign is difficult to see from the road. The sign you can read from the road says a different name: "travellers inn", with no "island". There is next to no parking above ground and the parking underground is tight. They also rent parking spaces to locals, so even if the hotel is empty the parking lot can be quite full. Inside, the clerk at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, unfortunately he was the only one with any customer service skills. Our room was on the first floor close to the lobby. We had a vending machine and an elevator right outside our door, so we could often hear people walking by and getting snacks. The room was clean enough and the bed was what is to be expected at this price. However, at night the owners? of the hotel and their friends would gather in the lobby and talk very loudly well into the night. This was extremely annoying as the walls are paper thin. We weren't going to bed early; we were on holiday after all. But we didn't think it was too much to ask to have some peace and quiet after midnight. One night, we got back around 11 and when we passed through the lobby, the group of men gathered there stopped talking and just stared at us as we walked by. It was unnerving and certainly wasn't friendly or welcoming. Overall, I would not recommend.

Woke up to flooded floors. Afraid to use any electrical appliances. Did not shower or shave. Walking around with soaking wet feet. Flood did not come from our suite. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE Had to get dressed and get out.
