Huntington Manor

Posted 20-Jul-2014
Pros: I like the character all though it needs to continue in it's updates - but the new management is definitely going in the right direction!
Cons: again - modernizing the character decor without losing the character.
Location: restaurants, galleries, walkway to fishermans warf -= great location!
great location, lovely views from our room of the harbour. Minutes to great restaurants, scenic walks. The bed was extremely comfortable with a spacious room and kitchen facility.

On the Harbour in downtown Victoria

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Pros: Location was the most important thing, walking is something that we enjoy.
Cons: I know that the d├ęcor in the room keeps with the vintage of the hotel but isn't as functional as it could be.
Location: The hotel is right by the harbour in downtown Victoria. It's a short walk to restaurants, pubs, shopping and Barbs Fish Place on the Warf.
The hotel is right by the harbour in downtown Victoria. It's a short walk to restaurants, pubs, shopping and Barbs Fish Place on the Warf. The hotel is old but has character, there is no air conditioning but with the window wide open and the fan propped in the window it cools the room down nicely. There are several areas to eat and the room comes with a complimentary breakfast in the restaurant. There is underground parking that is only accessible via the elevators across from the front desk, this provides a nice level of security. Cost of parking is $9.00 per day. The ironing board is just a cotton cover (no backing) on the metal board so isn't really nice to iron anything.

Great location - just needs updating.

Posted 08-Jul-2014
Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: Water pressure of showers, more amenities (hot tub permanently closed, more coffee/sugar in room), breakfast included.
Location: Just off the Inner Harbor, with a 2-minute walk to Starbucks and the Robert Bateman Museum.
The staff was friendly, and helped us plan some day trips. They also took us up onto the rooftop to watch the fireworks, and that was special. The building is in need of repairs; make sure the room windows are closed upon arrival, or your room will smell musky from the pond outside. It's a quiet, basic hotel (no breakfasts or movies) but the location and price worked for our family.

Adequate for uor stay

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: Easy access to Coho Ferry
Cons: Minor repairs, paint. TV was difficult to manuver for watching from couch and was an old tube type but worked fine. Did not find a program for the TV
Location: Lots of things to do and local transportation available. Cost of attractions and transportation a little high.
Not fancy or modern and no A/C but comfortable and clean. Repairs needed ( pain opeeling in washroom). Older building and needs some repair mainly paint. Stayed one night July 2014.

weekend getaway

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Location: The provincial museum, street entertainers, many pubs, the parliament buildings, much to see and do.
We were surprised when we first arrived, that they offered a room upgrade. It was a nice room with a loft bedroom. The bed was okay, but the pillows were terrible. The breakfast was continental and should have been free, over priced for what was offered. Over all it was a quiet room, clean, and had everything we needed. Great to be walking distance to town.

Ok but not great

The hotel is obviously old. The door lock was temperamental. The electrical outlets were iffy. It seemed clean enough in the room, hallway rugs needed shampooing. Staff was great. Location good. Nice to dogs.
