“2star hotel in 4 star area”
Not bad for basic accomidation.Where's the dresser? Deffinitly not a 3 star
“I would not stay there again.”
First the good: the location is AMAZING! Cannot beat it at all. The price was awesome. Hard to find such a great deal so near the city center. The bad: Rooms and hallways smell of cigarettes very badly. The room, especially the bathroom had a very strong smell of mildew throughout. We heard every door close, water flush and shower taken in at lest a 10 room circumference of us all night long. The beds were very uncomfortable and should have been replaced years ago. Overall; Great deal and location if you are looking for a place to crash while enjoying Victoria. If you are looking for a comfortable, relaxing and inviting place to relax at the end of the day, you are in for a surprise. Even though the deal is great, and we are by no means snobs when it comes to accommodations, but this just pushed the limit just a little far.
“Good Location...noisy rooms”
We stayed her over a weekend.... the check in was quick..we were informed about a $9 dollar a night parking fee...other than that we were not given any other information about the hotel... in the room thee is no information about the hotel either... the rooms are dated, and you can here the water in the pipes from rooms surrounding you..also the noise from the road and other people is also very apparent. The hotel seems to have made a commitment to saving hydro...room was cold heat was turned off as was the other things in room. no paper or pens no extra toilet paper... the King size bed was two single pushed together..not sure if this is normal? The location was great short walk to everything down town... I personally found it to be noisy and very dated...unfortunately I can not comment ion service since there wasnt anything to tell me about them..for the price it was ok...but overalll not impressed
“economical”
great location, friendly staff, good breakfast, noisey room, sounded like we were under a maintenance room of some sort, furniture being moved off and on all night, noisy plumbing that was initiated by anyone in the wing using water, the bed made my hips ache, to the point of losing sleep, and there were no extra pillows to help out...
“Great location - historical site”
Hotel is one block from the harbor and two blocks from Empress Hotel - EXCELLENT location - next to historical buildings/homes and in a beautifully tree-lined area. Just a few blocks walk to Fisherman's Wharf, great little grocery store, historical Government Street, and Beacon Hill Park. Highly recommend for location - rooms are a little worn looking, but beds were very comfortable and room was absolutely clean - would definitely stay there again!
“Somewhat Disappointed”
The hotel was easy to access. The room required some basic maintenance. The bathroom door would not shut properly, rooms smelled stale and the front staff did not explain where anything was (ie pool, parking) or the procedures for parking. There was nothing posted anywhere to indicate charges for parking.
“The quietes place I have ever stayed, slept in twice, thats a good thing!”
Great location to some very nice restaurants, walking distance to the harbour and lots of tourist attractions. Very friendly staff and the place was very clean and tidy. We will be staying there again. Thanks
“Good location but needs to be updated”
Great location. Staff were all very helpful. If you want a modern hotel, this would not be a good choice. All the furnishings are outdated and the door in the armoire for the tv would not stay open. But it is a good value.
“Great staff”
The staff was terrific, unfortunately hotel was not worth the money. I stayed at cheaper hotel last year and it was much cleaner, not so rundown. It's in a great location and close to everything.
“Location”
We were in Victoria for the Marathon. Booked a pet-friendly room and had to sign a document at the front desk that the dog would not be allowed on the beds. When we got to our room, we found one of the beds covered in dog hair. We called the front desk and were quickly switched to a different room. The decor in the rooms need a facelift, the TV is at least 10 years old, and there was no air conditioner. Luckily the weather was mild and the window opens. The beds are comfortable - Double beds only. The bathroom is clean and everything worked. On the day of the marathon we were woken early by the half-marathoners using their toilets and showers. The plumbing is very loud and you literally hear every bathroom throughout the hotel. We only ate breakfast in the hotel once, which was very underwhelming. There are many restaurants in the area though. The surrounding area seems residential with no noise in the evenings. For the price and location the Huntingdon cannot be beaten. Unfortunately it is surrounded by much classier establishments, which adds to the disappointment one feels when staying there.
