“The Empress ain't the only nice place to stay in town!”
Stayed here just one night but it was lovely. Had a very nice room with a balcony overlooking the harbour. All the staff were lovely and looked after us very well. Hotel is in a great situation for exploring downtown Victoria. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.
“Excellent location”
Had a one-bed suite on great rate through Expedia. Very quiet, clean and comfortable room with partial harbour view from balcony (x2!). Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Ten minute walk to seaplane offices and town. Bar had a relaxed atmosphere and barman was chatty but not at all intrusive. Concierge very informative and helpful.
“Flawless service, traditional hotel”
We stayed here in September 2008 for a short holiday. While in hindsight, I was not particularly keen on Victoria itself, I would say that the hotel was absolutely great, and offered all the benefits of a full-service, established luxury hotel, but at a reasonable price and with genuinely friendly service. The food was great, the gym / health club was excellent (with a big pool and full timetable of classes, and the room and service were impeccable. The conceirge was also very good and really knew his stuff. If you are looking for a comfortable, traditional hotel with in Victoria, this would be it. You can't go wrong.
“A good choice for Vctoria”
We chose this hotel because we were arriving in Victoria from Seattle on the fast ferry, which docks within walking distance. It's next door to the BC parliament buildings (well worth a visit), on the harbour, 200 metres from the Empress hotel and two blocks from both the Royal BC museum (a must visit) and the bus terminal - handy if you're travelling on to Vancouver as we were. We had booked a room with a harbour view, and if we have a quibble, it would be that the majority of our view was taken up by the other block of the hotel, at right angles to our own, so while we could see the harbour, our view of it was partial at best. This was a pity, because the harbour is busy and attractive. Food was good at the hotel, staff very helpful in arranging restaurant bookings and advising on our trip to the Butchart Gardens (again, a must see), and service quick and pleasant. We'd stay there again without hesitation, but might pay a bit more for a better view!
“Good hotel, great location”
Rooms at the front have a great view of the harbour. Good pool & leisure facilities. V friendly staff. Great location for Shops, pubs, restaurants.
