Great location, wonderful hotel, staff needs work.

Posted 02-Jul-2015
Pros: Location, market below, room size,
Cons: Front desk staff's customer service, flexibility with check in/check out times (in order to align with larger chains), evening coffee shop?
Location: Check out the market, great for breakfast and lunch!
Never stayed here before & was interested in trying the North Shore. LOVED the location, so handy, GREAT market downstairs. VERY quiet after about 7pm though so not for those seeking a nightlife. The sea bus ran often & was a great link to the downtown core. Lonsdale Quay is fantastic and a bit of a break from the hubbub of downtown Vancouver & very well situated if you are heading to Whistler or any points NORTH. Hotel is spacious & clean. However, our room wasn't ready at check in (not a huge deal - it was 230pm). However, when I returned at 1030pm to check in, we sat at the front desk & were completely ignored while two people chatted in the back room. One person finally came out, picked up the phone and started a conversation with the person on the phone without even acknowledging we were standing there. On our final day, we asked for a late check out (1230pm) as I had an important audition to tape. We CLEARLY told the front desk we would check out ASAP but needed to get the tape done - they seemed confused/flustered about this. Then, even though the housekeeping people were busy with other rooms (and NOWHERE near ours) the front desk staff started phoning AT NOON (and therefore interrupting and forcing a restart of the taping process) and panicking that they had guests coming in two hours which was odd because my room hadn't been ready when I tried to check in at 230pm. They had plenty of time as we were gone by 1230pm & would have been gone earlier had they not called!

Quick Visit

Posted 01-Jul-2015
Pros: Larger rooms. Staff were welcoming and polite. Near the waterfront and major Victoria attractions.
Cons: Older room, could use a bit of painting in the bathroom and the trim in the room. Bathroom door worn out and lock on front door needs replacing.
Location: Near BC Parliament Buildings, Royal British Columbia Museum, Crystal Gardens, Black ball ferry, Empress Hotel, Waterfront & Government Street Shopping
Great Location for downtown area. Older rooms, but worked for us with a young family, we were not looking for fancy but rather efficient and clean. Also loved that we were able to get a kitchenette at this hotel. On the downside, there is no air conditioning or room services, but you can order from the restaurant downstairs and they will prep a tray for you to take to your room. If you get the breakfast included with your stay it is great, full buffet-FULLY LOADED; however be aware the vouchers are for 2 person occupancy (children under 11 are free, but any other guest over this age you pay an additional $14.00 per person for the buffet). Parking is also $15 per day or you can park on the street from the evening until 9:00 am. We were their for an out of town medical appointment and required a quite dark place for my daughter to recover and rest. We were given a quite corner suite in the building which was perfect for our stay. Suite included the blackout curtains which were grate for daytime sleep for her on a very warm and sunny summer day. I should mention that we were able to get a fan for the room from the hotel staff. We had some trouble with the room door lock, but the maintenance person that helped us was helpful and friendly. We would stay again

Nice hotel in downtown Victoria

Posted 30-Jun-2015
Nice hotel just a few blocks from the harbor in Victoria. We had a two room suite - living room was spacious but bathrooms were a little small. Clean and comfortable with a great staff. Parking available for $15. Breakfast was a buffet - good quality and selection. Overall a great experience. Would stay there again.

Pros: Location & good workout facility
Cons: Clean up the entrance. Garbage & recycle bin need to be emptied more often.
Location: Walk through the interesting downtown. Good restaurants also close by. Staff in hotel restaurant were very helpful.
Enjoyed the ability to walk around in downtown Victoria & the closeness to the bus to Butchart Gardens & the block walk to the terminal for the Victoria Clipper to & from Seattle

this hotel has NO air conditioning

Posted 28-Jun-2015
Pros: Not much
Cons: add A/C, cleanup the dirt off the balconies and railings etc.
Location: great location near the harbour in Victoria with a myriad of things to do and see,.
The room temperature held steady at 25 to 27 C for the duration of our brief stay there,. Opening the balcony doors (which the staff suggested after telling me that they had no A/C) just introduced a high level of street racket. Even $60 motels in remote towns have A/C folks.

OK stay

Posted 24-Jun-2015
Pros: The location was convenient. Very close to everything, but away from the crowds. The lobby is nice.
Cons: Functionality of the room. Small things, but there were no hooks in bathroom to hang your cloths or towel. TV was far and the remote did not work well
Location: The location was nice. Between the Parliament and the Fisherman Warf. Close to many attractions, but out of the big crowds.
Nice location. Check in is late at 4pm and they mean it. The room was spacious but the décor was rather plain and unattractive and not very practical. The person at the check in was polite, but cold.
