“Best View in Victoria”
I had been to Victoria on a cruise ship stop a few years ago, and promised to return for a longer visit. I found Delta Victoria thru the internet, and decided to stay there for a short trip to Victoria in September. The hotel was one of the highlights of the visit! The desk personnel were very personable and helpful, and I even received an upgrade to a harbor view. Wow! We had floor to ceiling views of the Inner Harbor, and it was amazing in the evening when all the city buildings were lit up! We also decided to try the hotel restaurant, Lure, for dinner. Again, a wonderful dining experience. Staying on the concierge level made our visit complete-nice continental breakfast and outside deck to enjoy. Best of all, the cost was very reasonable, and we could walk into town in minutes. Beautiful grounds to stroll. This hotel made our Victoria trip amazing! Thanks, Delta Victoria!
Area recommendations
The downtown area with Parliament and The Empress Hotel are worth the visit. Fisherman's Wharf gives a lot of local color. There was a nice scenic drive to take with many stopover sights to take pictures. In downtown Victoria, Johnson Street was funky, and Government St was the place to shop. Excellent restaurants, cute coffee and soda shops. The entire town is very walkable, and next visit we probably wouldn't even need a rental car. There is a nice walkway all around the harbor. Best views to take pictures are across the bridge at Delta Victoria. The Fairmont Empress was lovely to visit-grounds are amazing. But the do charge a fee to take a more extensive tour of the hotel. Butchard Gardens are also a must see on this visit. We initially balked at the admission price, but after seeing it, we all decided it was well worth it!
When to go
Still good weather in mid September, although cool-mid 60's and cloudy.
Getting there
We took the car ferry out of Anacordes-nice way to go.
Getting around
We had a rental car, but to get around Victoria, you could walk just as easily. There is a bus that goes to Butchard Gardens-the only time we couldn't walk. The hotel also supplied a shuttle, which was nice.
What to pack
Layer, layer, layer! Bring a light rain parka just in case-weather was very comfortable, and is half cloudy and sunny. Very casual-no one really dresses up.

Butchard Gardens, Parliament, The Empress, Delta Victoria, Fisherman's Wharf, all of downtown, ride the little ferries

Lure at Delta Victoria, Barb's at Fisherman's Wharf, ice cream soda shop by The Empress, any of the Pubs, Il Terrazzo
