“Fantastic service at front desk.”
Great friendly service at the front desk. I was upgraded upon request, this is the second time they've done this for me. Great location, right in the heart of downtown, easy to walk to most of the sights. the night of my return the ferry was to be cancelled and they had no issue reserving me a room at the last minute, matching the my expedia rate from the night before. The rooms are quaint but could use mew carpeting and tvs.
“Definitely a budget hotel.”
We booked a last minute stay at this hotel and picked mainly due to price and location. The location can't be beat. It's close to great restaurants (including the fabulous Rebar), shops and close to all of the tourist locations. It also has a Cafe Artigiano in the lobby (fantastic coffee). However, I would rate this a 3 star at best. We were given a room that adjoined another (45A) and could very clearly hear all conversations that were happening in the next room. This was particularly inconvenient when we were also awoken the next morning by their 6:45am wake up call. The carpet had a clearly outlined iron burn (not a big deal but indicative of the quality of the hotel). The sink was in the main part of the room with a separate room for a stand-up stall shower and toilet. The shampoo/soap dispenser in the shower had leaked so there was a big pool of dried shampoo all over the bottom of the stall. The bed was old and noisy with every turn but actually rather comfortable. If you're looking for a relatively clean, budget hotel in a great location, I would consider this hotel. If you're looking to spend any time in your room or plan on treating yourself, I would look elsewhere.
“Tiny but Cozy”
The room was tiny, the view non-existent but when you don't spend a lot of time in the room is was a perfect location. Freshlyly updated, clean, quiet and with an excellent location in the downtown. Parking not too convenient but a small price to pay for the small price we paid.
“Hope to return soon!”
This hotel could not be in a better location. Although we paid a premium for the room, it was worth every penny.
“Bright but over-stuffed”
My room was very bright, and flowers in the window box put me in a good mood right away. The bathroom facilities were just adequate. My main criticism is the huge bed and fat armchair that took up so much space that one could hardly move around. As a single person, I would have appreciated a smaller bed, and a desk I could sit at rather than the overstuffed armchair that got in the way. The coffee shop downstairs is handy.

“Great "Period" hotel”
A fantastic large room with big windows and lots of sunlight streaming in. Never had a good soaker tub in a hotel before. This room had one! I've already booked another room for my return trip. Perfect for the edgy artistic type.
“quiet, simple hotel”
nice, simple hotel. It was very quiet for a busy area. It seems a little overpriced even with the expedia discount.
“Not Updated But Great Location”
Stayed three nights in August 2011. Really enjoyed the location and the underground parking available (for a charge but very secure). The hotel looks like it was very swanky in 1960 and then nothing done as far as upgrading or restyling since. But we still loved it. I recommend upgrading rooms though. We loved our room (deluxe queen) but seen the regular room and it looked like a bedroom with an ensuite. Best location possible in Victoria.
“Impressed”
Large nice rooms Great location in the middle of all of the bars, restaurants & shops. The only downside is that there are no ice machines - we had to go to the pub downstairs to get ice.
