Great hotel with an extremely wonderful and kind staff. The hotel was very clean and my room was the perfect size for a solo traveler. The hotel was in an amazing location.... close to everything, including the train which is key when traveling to other parts of the country. I'd highly recommend this hotel, and would stay again!
The staff was so helpful from the minute we arrived to the time we left. We were in Italy for 8 days and this was the friendliest hotel staff. They even called our next hotel to arrange transport from the train station. The location was great, 2 mins walk from the station and close to everything. Very clean and the breakfast was amazing. It was honestly like a full lunch buffet, homemade deserts and so much food. Excellent hotel. Highly recommend.
Ten minutes from the Duomo on a narrow street that bends ever so slightly and reveals new surprises every few feet, the Hotel Vasari is the perfect spot from which to explore Florence. The building dates from the late 1500s and in the late nineteenth century served as the French Embassy. The public rooms on the street level still reflect the ambiance of that golden era as does a large sitting room on the first floor. The old tile for in the breakfast room is very nearly a work of art in itself. Guess rooms, a bit small as is always the case in older European hotels, are a bit small, but are tastefully done. Doors to the guest rooms are decorated with figures from classic paintings--a nice touch.
While you're in the neighborhood, don't miss the chance fir a meal at the Trattoria Nerone on the street that connects the Hotel Vasari with the duomo (on your right as you walk toward the cathedral).
"Small, friendly hotel with a convenient location"
Very friendly and helpful staff on reception, who responded very efficiently with minor issues and questions. Room fairly small but very comfortable and more than adequate. Sky TV was a good feature as was the free wifi.
We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Porta Faenza. Beatrice and Francesca had arranged for us to have a room with a king-size bed, which was a luxury. As with both the hotels we stayed in Italy, the beds were a little on the hard side - perhaps this is a cultural preference. Otherwise, the room and the amenities were great.
