“Very outdated”
Our check in at this hotel was ok, fast and efficient, hotels has supposedlybeen renovated recently, but i guess they missed our room. the bathroom was very outdated, lime green tiles with cracks, the mechanism to divert the water to the shower head was not working properly, our bed was just two twins pushed together, not very comfortable, no kettle or coffeemaker either. The only restaurant in the neighborhood is at the hotel and does not offer much in the way of choices. Breakfast was ok, good selection of cereals, pastries and fruits, scrambled eggs were a bit dry but didnt expect much as they were sitting in a hold hot dish
“not worth a 4 star hotel”
1. unpleasant neighborhood 2. lobby is underground and very small 3. ordered 1 room for 1 adult +2 children and initially didn't want to provide us with 3 beds or 1 doulble bed +1 single bed . 4. they own only 1 internet station in the lobby at a high rate 5. not attractive room 6. very poor breakfast . most of the food is not fresh but canned
“Excellent value”
The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. Breakfasts were very good, room very comfortable. It was my wifes birthday whilst we were there and the hotel staff very kindly provided a bowl of fruit and a bottle of bubbly together with a card. I would definitely choose this hotel again.
“Great Price-Value Hotel”
I usually don't write reviews but I'll make an exception this time. This was the 3rd time I stayed and this time was my best experience. The first 2 times I had no line in my room to call back home and no Wi-Fi connection because they kept having problems with their internet. This time it looks like they shaped up because I had connection and a phone line. The reason I always stay in this hotel is because it is close to my business location but for the price/value I would reccomend this hotel. The rooms are clean, the restaurant food is very good. Also there is a big supermarket called PAM right next to the hotel where I always go to buy necessities which is very convenient. And another good thing is you are a 10 minute 1 bus ride away from Verona's downtown where it's a happening every night. Hope this helps.
“Nice hotel in Verona”
We stayed at Hotel Maxim for three nights, using it as a base for visiting Venice (by rail) and lake Garda (by car). The hotel was modern, clean and spacious. The underground parking was a real boon. Area very quiet, but only a short bus ride to Verona city centre. Very good value for money.
“Great hotel, but don't use their opera shuttle-bus”
Clean, helpful and comfortable hotel. The only negative point was the location, and that was more manageable than some of the reviews suggest. A 15-minute bus ride (which will be included in the Verona Card if you buy one of these for your stay), and the buses are fairly regular. I would warn that on Sundays the buses are quite irregular, which is a pain, and that if you are going to the opera you might have to get a taxi home as they don't run very late. I'd also advise caution when using the hotel's opera shuttle-bus service (EUR7 return): it restricts you to a certain time, and the shuttle-bus left without us despite us departing the opera on time and going to the right pick-up location! I think this is a rip-off and they aren't worried about ensuring all the passengers are there, so get the bus into town, and get a taxi from the arena afterwards (there are plenty around). Then you don't have to fret about running for a bus that might have left without you anyway, and if there's a couple of you, it won't cost much more than the shuttle-bus would!
“Good hotel deal in Verona”
I spent 7 nights at the Hotel Maxim. My experience was positive and I would stay there again. The hotel staff was very helpful and the accommodations were good. I stayed in a standard room. The breakfast bar was very good and the fact that they served scrambled eggs made this American feel at home. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Also, the fact that the hotel is built on top of a grocery store added to the convenience.
“Great Hotel But Poor Location for Wandering Old Verona...Taxis Required”
We stayed at Hotel Maxim for 2 nights. Everything was satisfactory. We had been staying in hostels all over Europe for the last 2 weeks, so I nice clean room was well received. Hotel Maxim is quite far from the centre of old Verona however (45 min. walk at least) which was ok the first day when interested in trekking around but not for the way back. Before booking, I did not know that the hotel was so far from the new train station. I had looked on google maps and seen another train station close by and assumed (wrongly) that it was still in use. I was disappointed that wireless internet was not included. Only one computer available was limiting as well. To improve this hotel I would suggest increasing the number of computers to 3, make wireless internet free and offer a single morning and evening shuttle to old Verona. It would have made our Verona experience amazing. That being said, Hotel Maxim is a true 4 star hotel. The breakfast (quantity and quality) was marvelous. Quite suprising how good it was.
“Beds are on the hard side but Nice hotel and great full service breakfast”
The hotel was not as close as it seemed on the map to the center of town, which was dissapointing. We were planning in being able to walk from our hotel to see the sights and to get to the opera but we had to drive and pay to park at a garage in the center of town. Other than that, the hotel was nice. It was very clean and the staff was very nice and helpful and everyone we came in contact with spoke excellent English. Thier free breakfast was wonderful, with a wide range of REAL breakfast foods (meats, eggs, fruits, etc.) as well as a large selection of juices, teas, coffees and soft drinks. It was all served buffett style and you were welcome to return as many times as you wanted. The room was small but very clean, with a nice tv, minibar, full american style bathroom and 2 twin beds. The beds were VERY small and on the hard side, but overall it was well worth what we paid for the room and I would stay there again.
“Good value for money”
Tip, on arrival catch taxi to motel, then go out and work out how the buses work. Once you've done that, its very convenient to get to the centre and go sight seeing. Supermarket next door. Day trips to Lake Garda and Venice worked well with trains.
