Clocktower Inn sits next to plaza across the street from the old mission church. Walk down the Main Street to shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, small businesses, beautiful old city hall and about 5 charity thrift stores. The inn is mission style with red tile roofs, a real clocktower, and a lovely courtyard where breakfast buffet is set up. Basic continental breakfast cereals, pastries, bagels, waffles, toaster, milk, juice and coffee. Single room with queen bed is small but comfy and clean with mission style decor. Close to Freeway 101 for easy access but may be noisy depending on location of your room unless you keep the AC or fan going for white noise. I enjoyed my stay there.
"Very nice hotel, close to the beach and downtown."
Very pleasant and cheerful. Nice clientele, mostly very friendly mostly senior citizens that we saw. Easy drive to Ventura Fair Grounds, Joe's Crab Shack, Mimi's cafe and shopping mall. Felt comfortable walking around.
I only stayed one night while in for a half marathon but I would definitely stay here for longer trips. The hotel doesn't look that great from the outside but the rooms were modern and comfortable. The hotel was completely booked for the weekend and yet we never heard our neighbors through the walls. The only dated experience was the lack of quick checkout process via TV but not worth knocking down a star.

I booked this hotel because I was going the Ventura half marathon and it was right near the starting line. It was really convenient because it was close walking distance to the pier. Also, our hotel room was in the back so we had a small view of the ocean. The only downfall was that there was a train track right outside our window that had a train come by every once in a while but it didn't wake me up at all. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Even for just hanging out at the beach it was affordable.
The staff was so friendly and interested in making our stay a pleasant one. Almost all staff would greet us or ask us how or stay was, and that wasn't just in the lobby, that was all over the hotel. Really, really friendly staff work there.
We took our "Do not Disturb" sign off late one morning, so the room wasn't made, but I'm sure they would have if we called later that day. Nice looking hotel and the rooms were nice.
The bed was a little too soft for my liking, and you could hear the upstairs guests. I wasn't not a fan of the added parking charge - I thought I was paying enough already for the room.
We stayed two nights. Breakfast (was included with our room) it was great and staff excellent. Took a drive up to Santa Barbara only 1 hour. Nice Craft show in outside lobby area. Pool looked inviting. Great seaside patio for drinks! We got an adjoining room for our teen son and that was very convenient. Great Stay! Highlight of our trip to Ventura~!
My wife and I saw the Comfort Inn's No. 1 Ventura rating on TripAdvisor and decided to take a chance on a one night stay at a hotel with less than a four star rating. We were greeted at the front desk at around 8:00 pm by the first of three different front desk personnel all of whom were pleasant and extremely helpful. We took the elevator to our room, finding our best surprise. Everything was more than we had hoped to find. The room was clean and fresh. The beds were very comfortable with firm and soft pillows as well as wonderful down comforters. We left the following morning feeling refreshed after a free breakfast that was included in the very reasonable price.
