“Poor Reception”

Hotel is in a nice location and has a nice lobby. Front-desk reception was not as cordial and accommodating as expected from previous Westin Hotel experiences.

“Wonderful Hotel... Great Staff..”

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but we loved our stay here. Wonderful staff. Very nice room and quiet. Very accomodating. Overall great value and couldn't be a better location

Area recommendations

This is hotel is right off of St. Mark's Square and also on the Grand Canal. We couldn't ask for a better location.

Shopping

Right in the best best shopping area. Prada, Ferragamo, LV., Chanel and Hermes a stones throw away

Very expensive and average or below average food. Dine elsewhere!

“Delightful in every way”

We stayed for 5 nights in August '09 and found the hotel to be everything that you would hope your hotel to be. Very clean, great service, and wonderful location. If you are looking for a 4 or 5 star hotel...this is the place.

Traveller's tip

You might avoid the buffet breakfast...way to expensive and too "American"...better to find a corner bar and grab a coffee and brioshe at about one tenth the price.

“pretentious, will never return”

We felt completely dissatisfied with our stay at the Westin. The hotel staff seemed rude and pretentious and we never really felt comfortable at the hotel. The staff did nothing to inform us of amenities and perks. We traveled for our honeymoon and stayed in all 4-5 star hotels. This was the only one that did not meet our needs.

“I was not impressed”

You walk through tiny little alleys to get the hotel. Even though the hotel is on the Grand Canal, you cannot walk from the hotel out to the area by the canal -- all that's there is a water taxi area. The rooms were unimpressive. Mine did not even have a desk in it. I took a 3' x 4' elevator to my floor. Then had to walk up a flight of stairs, down a corridor and then down a flight of stairs to get to my room. The view from my room was some sort of roof top and a bunch of windows of adjacent buildings. The room key was attached to an elaborate, heavy and large metal fob. You were supposed to leave the key at the desk when you went out. When you came back you told whoever was at the desk your room number and they gave you the key, no ID, no nothing.

“Hit and Miss”

The hotel is very nice but, the staff is hit and miss...I can recommend this hotel but, be ready to spend your money and lay the ground rules down early...

Venice is very expensive and very touristy...Plan ahead by reading in travel books on your price range for restaurants...Venice is a must see; however, after Florence, Lucca and Quinqua Terra, Venice is very cramped...Also, most local merchants are helpful and friendly but beware, some are not...
