“Had an absolutely fabulous time in Venice”
This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the hotel. This year with friends, 4 of us in total. Last time June 2008, just the two of us. All 4 of us thought hotel was excellent. Away from the main tourist areas, but close enough to get to them by walking or on the vaporatto. You get a feel of real Venetian life in Cannaregio. Breakfasts were good, good choice and plentiful. Just what we needed to start off our busy days. Hotel staff very friendly & courteous. Bar & restaurant did not seem to be open, but there plenty in the area so it did not make any difference to us and would not detract us from staying here again. We enjoyed going to the local bars & restaurants. Hotel is easy to get to from airport, no. 5 bus to P Roma & then 3 vaporatto stops to S Alvise. Much better than trudging luggage around busy tourist areas Would certainly recomend the hotel
“Romantic and quiet”
Chosen for our 25th anniversary. Lovely hotel in the north of Venice. Not too far from the sights a good 25 minute walk. Convenient for vaparetto to the other Islands. Lovely restaurant with the hotel. We had a ground floor canal view room which was quiet, clean and spacious.
“Hidden Gem!”
We really liked this hotel despite initial impressions that it was in the back of beyond (although this may have been because we arrived at the wrong water taxi stop in the dark and had no way of finding it!) After thinking it may be ramshackle we had a very pleasant surprise when we walked into the tidy smart reception. The guy on the desk was more than helpful, admitting the hotel was hard to find and offering all sorts of advice for finding our way around on a map he provided. The room was perfectly acceptable, with all you'd expect and the added novelty of a split level room and wooden chalet-style beamed ceiling - lovely! They also have a nice little bar and gardens (although we didn't try the restaurant)...all in all very good value for a very reasonable price. Once we'd got settled we realised the area was also very easy to negotiate and get into the main town from, and to be honest it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle while still being able to access the whole city in little time and with little effort - very happy with our stay!
“Great hotel away from the crowds”
The hotel Residenza Cannaregio is located in the quiter residential area of Venice. It is about a 10 min walk from Madonna dell Orto water bus stop. This is the easiest way from the airport. It is also about 15 min walk from the train station. There is a BILLA supermarket 5 mins away for very reasonable prices. The hotel provides an excellent breakfast 7:30-11 consisting of cereals, pastries, hams, cheeses, fruit, yoghurts, juices, eggs & bacon and tea & coffee. Excellent space in the junior suite, however the sofa bed downstairs was a bit uncomfortable. Not much selection on TV especially for kids. Would not say a 4 star but would not hesitate to return or recommend.
“Would Use Again”
10 - 15 minutes walk from train station depending on crowds. Quieter part of Venice. Excellent, helpful staff. Breakfast adequate, and included fried or scrambled eggs. Hotel info suggests tea / coffee making facilities in rooms -- not so! Would definitely use again.
“Would definatley return!”
Chose this hotel due to the reviews on Expedia and I was not at all disappointed. The hotel was lovely, in a quiet location with fantastic food available at local authentic restaurants where you were not ripped off (like in the more central tourist areas). If I get the chance to go back to Venice again I would stay at this hotel again, without any doubt! The only downside is when you first arrive in Venice and don't know your way around - it is quite difficult to find the hotel and I would suggest Vaparetto (water bus) to S Alvese from the railway or bus station. From the boat, walk down to the first canal you find and turn right. Walk till you will find the last bridge across the canal which brings you right to the door of the Rezedencia Cannaregio, far easier than trying to navigate Venice when you have no idea where you are going and takes 5 minutes from the boat!
“Super hotel”
Fourth time that we've stayed here, and we wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. It's extremely good value for a four star hotel. Breakfast is fantastic, an excellent selection of items. The bar is now open (it was closed after the change of owners) and when we asked about the restaurant they told us it would be opening again soon. Lovely area, nice and quiet and near a fantastic restaurant (Ristorante Diana). Recommended!!!
“A fine hotel”
We were quite happy to book this because it was very good value but thought it may be of low quality. It turned out to be a very nice hotel. They could not provide the canal view that we booked so upgraded us to a suite. It had two levels with on-suite and lounge downstairs with a mezanine above with twin beds. TV on both levels with nice lighting and two air con systems. Reception very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice and a good selection of drinks. We stay in many hotels and holiday about six or seven times a year and stay in hotels back home on business so have a good sense of what to expect. You will not be dissappointed with this hotel. It is away from the main hype, but thats a big advantage. Quite! Do go to Diana's restaurant along the Fondamenta dei Misericordia. Good value and they look after you with complimentary drinks and very good food. we had it recommended and were pleased. The staff are very welcoming. We had Turbot and it was fantastic but on another occassion had a massive plate of mixed raw fish as a starter that was out of this world. Back to the hotel - we didnt eat dinner there as we wanted to get out and about but you could eat there. They didnt seem to promote it and we didnt come across a menu to look at. I would have expected some information on the notice board at the very least. Hotel close to the waterbus at S. Alvise. essential to save the legs. I hope you consider it. No down sides for us!
“Would definitely stay here again”
Residenza Cannareggio was a perfect base for our trip to Venice. It's situated in a quiet backwater (literally) but only a couple of hundred metres from some excellent bars and restaurants - particular favourites were the Dodo bar and the Osteria da Rioba for great drinks and even better food. Although the hotel looks a long distance from St Mark's Square on the map, it's actually a relatively short walk - we did it in around 45 minutes at a very gentle pace; it would take around 30 if you walked rapidly but the walk is so fascinating, it would be a shame to rush it. If you don't fancy the walk, St Alvise vaparetto stop is a couple of minutes from the hotel. The area is amazingly clean, easy to navigate your way around and full of locals. The hotel itself has friendly staff, a lovely, peaceful garden area and very comfortable bedrooms. Contrary to what I had read about inclusive breakfasts in Venice hotels, this one was excellent - bacon and eggs, cereal, fruit, pastries and cakes - a great start to the day. I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a great value option and who wants to be within easy reach of the sights without being in the midst of the crowds.
“Second Time Around”
Second year in a row we've stayed here. Quiet location, friendly helpful staff, comfortable room, excellent hot and cold buffet breakfast. Hotel easily reached by foot or boat, and good bars and eateries nearby. Would return again.
