Modern up to date facilities

Posted 15-Apr-2015
Modern up to date with 4 star facilities. Rooms are clean and comfortable overall. Setting the room temprature was a bit difficult. It kept getting really warm even after we turned the temprature down. Other than that no major issues. Location is good. Short walk from all the main attractions (st Marco square, Rialto bridge, train/bus station) Main entrance from the grand canal can be used only if you use water taxi. If you are on foot or take public transport, you will have to walk through couple of very tight streets but don't let that give you the wrong idea as the hotel is very clean and up to date. My other major issue was that they claim canal view from every room but it's not necessarily the grand canal view unless you have the junior suite. Other rooms look out to the smaller canal. Over all a good value for the money as long as you don't mind walking a bit to main attractions.

Romantisch hotel aan het Canal Grande.

Posted 06-Apr-2015

Nice hotel, great location.

Posted 30-Mar-2015
Pros: Friendly staff, breakfast was excellent!
Cons: Softer bed and better shower drain (water collects on the bathroom floor)
Location: Central location. Near S. Toma stop. Easy walk to Rialto, or Accademia.
The hotel is in a good, central location. If not arriving by boat, it can be difficult to find as the road entrance is down a small ally with no signs indicating it is there. It has all the facilities you would want from a hotel and was comfortable enough, although we found the bed a bit hard. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful with recommendations for sightseeing if you're not sure. We spent three lovely nights there and would recommend it as a place to stay.

Venice weekend

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: All of the above.
Cons: Nothing really.
Location: Excellent location, near to every site that you will wish to visit.
We were not disappointed in any way with this choice of hotel. The location was ideal, an easy walk to all the main places of interest, whilst being just far enough out of the centre to avoid the crowds and chaos that can bring. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and the breakfasts were excellent. Even a TV screen in the bathroom - nice touch!

Small, friendly, great location..

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: The location, the staff, the personal feel. The stunning bar balcony view to the canal.. We loved our time there and was sad to leave.
Cons: We experienced slow internet speed, but there was a tech prob which is in the process of being rectified. It wasn't a big problem for us..
Location: everything is within reach. It's venice, walk, gondola, water bus and taxi.. We came home yesterday with sore feet, empty wallets and big smiles
Arrived by water taxi direct from airport to the front door on the Grand Canal. , greeted by super friendly staff.. Room was contemporary , very clean and peaceful. We had room 18.which has a side view to the grand canal but direct views to another canal to the side.. Really very nice.. We felt like part of their family after a few days. Very personal as only 18 rooms.. Location was perfect for vaporettas(water bus) local shops. Walking distance to Rialto Bridge and Mercato. There is a rear entrance that is tricky to find at first, buy hey, it's what Venice is all about.. Explore, enjoy,

A great hotel run by friendly and helpful staff

Posted 16-Jan-2015
Pros: The friendly and helpful staff, comfort of the hotel, its location close to everything
Cons: Not much really
Location: Location is perfect. Away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco but within easy reach. Plenty of great little shops and restaurants close by.
We had a great stay at the Palazzo Barbarigo. We arrived earlier than the official check in time but were welcomed by the staff and shown around the hotel. We did arrive by water taxi to the front door so didn't have the issue of finding the secretive backdoor which is easy to find once you know where you are. We walked almost everywhere with the Rialto Bridge only a 10 min walk away. The traghetto across to San Marco is only a couple of minutes around the corner or the San Toma vaporetto stop is only 5 mins in the same direction (follow the signs as it is hidden down a narrow alleyway). I had booked one of the junior suites as a special treat so we were in Room 9 which had views over the Canal Grande. A lovely room with a large bed, flat screen tv and bathroom with a walk in shower. Breakfast was great but we did have scrambled eggs a couple of times at €5 each. Not a bad price. In the evenings we did make use of the balcony off the bar area even though it was a bit chilly but we made use of the blankets that were available. All in all, a great holiday. Thanks.

Tolles Hotel am Canal Grande

Posted 11-Dec-2014
