“Locanda Antica Venezia”

The staff at this family run hotel is extremely friendly and helpful. Proximity to St Marks Square and vaporetto is extremely convenient. However, not in an overly touristic locale, nice neighborhood feel. Rooftop breakfast terrace very pleasant. Only drawback is 4th floor walk up no elevator. Small, cozy, traditional and charming.

“Not Impressed”

Are room was very dusty and this was a big minus for this hotel.Uncomfortable bed and no duvet cover only thin blanket.

“Well located amongst the bustle of crowds but with a quiet rooftop balcony”

Great location although stairs would be an issue for some but not for us and Roberto and his collegue were kind enough to assist with our luggage. We travelled as a family of six, 2 children aged 5 and 7 ourselves and parents and really enjoyed the friendly casual atmosphere of this hotel. Having the rooftop balcony was great for quiet breakfasts and evening drinks before facing the bustle of the crowds traversing the alleys towards St Marks Piazza. Roberto and the staff were friendly and accommodating and the lounge area was great to retreat to while the children slept next door safely. Happy to stay here again and would highly recommend it.

Area recommendations

This is my 3rd visit to Venice (i keep coming back) and as crowded as it is becoming with travellers, there is something magical about St Marks Piazza. Other areas might be cheaper and less crowded in the streets but take a left as you come out of the hotel and just around the corner from the hotel is the loveliest deli with a fruit, chocolate and wine store all adjoining each other and on your right you are a blink away from the Piazza. there is still a local charm and friendliness here that gets tainted in some of Italy's other cities but here they seem to have accepted and embraced its visitors for admiring their city. if you are here for a few days make sure you buy a pass for the water ferries as they are easy to get around on. Our girls loved the glass blowing on the Island of Murano and were happy feeding and chasing pidgeons. A gondola ride, as cliched as they may be, is a must and if you can get someone who can sing, a huge bonus that puts a smile on my face everytime.

“Can't wait to go back.”

Excellent location, friendly staff, confortable and well kept room. Breakfast is served at the roof terrace with fantastic view over the cupolas of St Marko and Santa Maria della Sallute's. Unforgettable.

“Venice Sojourn”

The only problem with this hotel is the lack of an elevator. For persons with mobility problems this could be a hardship. There are 64 steps to reach the desk and/or dining room. More steps are required to reach the rooftop. I would not recommend hotel for seniors 60 & above unless in good physical shape who don't mind climbing steps.

Area recommendations

Piazza San Marco, Campanelle, Rialto Bridge, and a tour of the Grand Canal on a Vaporetto.

Traveller's tip

Sitting down in any cafe, restaurant garners an automatic increase in your bill of 20%...We noticed many locals just standing at the counter drinking their expresso's. You'll need lots of Euros for Venice.

“Location..location”

Excellent for our requirements. Central location and friendly reception staff. Not suitable for people unable to climb stairs to third floor. Good value for a central site.

“locanda Antica Venezia”

We were in Venice back in September and we stayed at this hotel, the only thing that was great about this hotel was it's location. We asked for a private bathroom, our private bathroom was down the hall from our room. Oh and if you love stairs this is the hotel for you because there are many of them and no elavator.

“Poor Hotel”

This hotel is more like a rooming house than a hotel. There's no elevator, so if you are a senior or handicapped, this hotel is not for you. The 9-inch TV in our room did not work, the hair dryer and the shower head were both broken. There was mold in the bathroom. We will not recommend this for anyone.
