As with most historical Venetian accommodations, rooms are fairly compact and irregularly shaped to fit in with the ancient surroundings. All are decorated in traditional style with fabric wall coverings, painted furniture, and Murano glass chandeliers. Floors are carpeted and rooms in the older part of the building feature exposed beams. Rooms look onto the square or the side canal.
Amenities include satellite television, minibars, high-speed Internet connections (surcharge), and marble bathrooms with bathrobes and complimentary toiletries.

Guests of the Santa Marina enjoy a cold complimentary buffet breakfast each morning. Among the selections offered are cheeses, fruit, yogurt, pastries, tomatoes, ham, and salami. Between April and September, this is served on a wooden terrace which extends onto Campo Santa Marina.
The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are several dining options within the surrounding area.

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay”
We had two rooms at Hotel Santa Marina recently for three nights. There were absolutely no disappointments in our stay - and I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and stay there again on any return trips. We were in the main part of the hotel, on the second floor and overlooking the square. The staff was friendly and accomodating, the breakfast had plenty of selections, rooms were clean and comfortable, although no plush bedding,. The hotel is conveniently located, and just a short walk to everything. I researched how to get to the hotel online before arriving, and after getting off the Rialto vaperetto stop, we walked directly to the hotel, without any difficulty in finding it. Thanks for a memorable stay!
“you're not paying for a big room”
Comfortable enough - but TINY rooms that were poorly ventilated and stuffy. The look of the hotel was very nice though
“Very nice Hotel in Venice!”
Trust the congierge for dinner. They gave us references to excellent restaurants closeby
“Not Four Star Hotel”
The hotel is hard to find, I must asked four different people for direction. they all gave us different direction. When we finally found the hotel and they gave us annex room across courtyard from the hotel. We were very disappointed with the room. The only positive thing was the breakfast was half way decent. Venice is very expensive place to visit, shops and restaurants on every corner and street. Narrow alley way and bridges would get your direction all turn around. Just follow the crowd with San Marco on one side and Realto Bridge on the other side.
“a little hidden gem in a great central location”
We stayed just for one night in this beautiful hotel and were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite. The room itself was really luxurious and the decor so utterly Venetian! Breakfast, although continental, was excellent with a good choice of pastries, fruit etc and set us up for the day. The location of the hotel was ideal - situated between the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square, the main sights were just a short stroll away, yet the square itself was quiet and peaceful. We hope very much to return to Venice soon and this hotel would be our first choice of accommodation.
“Impressed”
The staff here were very helpful and friendly, especially at the front desk and in the breakfast room and bar. Excellent breakfast buffet, which varies daily, and a superb self-service coffee machine! Room was clean, and everything worked. Good size safe in room. Lots of towels in the en-suite bathroom, but no flannels/facecloths (so take your own). They organise a complimentary water taxi to visit Murano glass factory, which is well worth the trip, and we rounded off our visit with a water taxi back to the airport, which they booked for us, and which picks you up just outside. The hotel is conveniently located, being only a short walk to Rialto and San Marco, and has some excellent restaurants close by. WiFi works throughout the main building (we were on the top floor). Overall, a very enjoyable stay, and I would recommend this hotel to others.
“Very nice hotel”
Overall, Hotel Santa Marina was very nice. My room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good too, although I got bored with the selection after 2 days. The only complaint I have about my room is it's not in the main hotel building. Therefore, I was not able to access the free wireless internet and I couldn't even connect to any mobile phone network. Also, the "annex" that my room was in only has only 2 rooms, which gave me a little unsafe feeling. A piece of advice for getting to the hotel. If you're coming from S. Lucia train station by water bus, you should get off Rialto station. Then it should only be 3 minutes walk to the hotel.
“A little dissapointed. If it was somewhere else this hotel can get max 3 stars”
While booking i thought that i got a good deal from a 4 star hotel. The suprise was waiting for us when we got there. Our room was in the annex building which is more likely to be a 2 star BB. The bathroom and the safe had to be fixed when we were staying there. The breakfast contained lots of carbohydrate like cakes etc. and less protein like cheese. The only thing that was satisfying from the hotel was the friendly personnel. In short i would not recommend this hotel to others.
“Looks nice, but probably not really a four-star”
Overall good as it's good value and very convenient to use a base so I would probably use again, but advertised as a 4-star hotel, and it's probably not really that in my opinion. Hotel as I say was convenient, but this consequently kept us up all night as soooo noisy even with windows shut! Need to invest in double glazing and get the air con working. Breakfast was free but low quality - especially the machine coffee - yuck! Bar area was interesting. Unmanned and noone keen to rush to serve us.
“Santa Maria for business and sightseeing”
Make sure to stay in the main part of the hotel; I heard some other guests complaining about their accommodations in the Annex.

Area:
Castello, Venice, Italy: Bordering San Marco and the Rialto and stretching east to some of Venices quietest greenest parts, Castello is the citys most varied sestiere. Its most famous aspect is the Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront next to the Bridge of Sighs, with picture-postcard views onto the lagoon. Yet a few yards from the tourist hoards, the backstreets are quiet and typically Venetian. There are many outstanding churches and art collections in this area.
