“Great location, a little pricey”
Great location close to the train station and mono rail to the crusie ship area for those leaving Venice on a cruise. Less than 10 mn walk from the Aquabus stop that takes you to/from the airport. Lots of restaraunts in the area and excellent food. Includes a buffet hot/cold breakfast with a decent selection. Free hotel water service to St. Marks (not used) but would save $$$$. Easy walk with one large bridge to cross with luggage to get to the monorail for a 1 euro per person ride to the cruise ship terminal vs. 70 euro water taxi. Room size average, but very clean, friendly staff. 15-20 min easy walk to Rialto Bridge. Great locate for those arriving in Venice by train.
“Quaint but lovely.”
Friendly, helpful and welcoming.Responsive and attentive.
“Nice location”
Nice location, close to train and bus station, nice view of the grand canal, friendly staff. Small rooms though.
“Overpriced”
I decided to go to Venice at the last minute and this was the only hotel room available in Venice proper via Expedia. I hesitated at the price, but as I had never been to Venice before, and really wanted to stay there. I'm glad I did it for the experience, but really, the hotel is quite overpriced for what you get. It has not been updated in quite a while - carpets are worn, needs new paint/wallpaper/fixtures. The shower was smaller than a phone booth - really a joke. The hotel is quite old fashioned and seems to be running on former glory. The staff was nice enough and I actually had a pleasant meal in the hotel restaurant. There is quite a nice terrace overlooking the Grand Canal and the food was quite good. Overall, if this is your only option, well, ok, I guess take it. But I think you can do better.
“Can do better.”
Very Overpriced and not up to minimum quality standards. The hotel was a decent stay at best. There are many other better options in Venice. Dont settle for this Mediocre spot.
“Good Hotel”
The front dest staff was very nice and helpful. The location was good for us, we walked all over and used the vaporetto. The price was fair. This was our first trip to Venice.
“Perfect experience!”
I booked this hotel same day on route to Venice and was pleasantly surprised at check in. Front desk staff stopped what they were doing and focused on my check in, answered questions and promptly took me up to my room. The air conditioning was already running in the room which was small, clean, and fresh...absolutely perfect for my one night stay in Venice! The two windows faced east and opened onto a courtyard with a peek of the Grand Canal. I was able to launder some essential items of clothing and hang them on the shutters...they were completely dry when I collected them after breakfast (which was spectacular and included btw). They have a beautiful outdoor patio right on the Canal 8-] I would highly recommend this hotel for a quick visit to Venice. Though I was only there for one night, I would have been perfectly happy to stay longer! Nothing like walking into a cool, clean room at the end of a long day of travel!
“Lovely Hotel, Fab location”
This is a really lovely hotel, right on the Grand canal, a great central location. Great views from the hotel itself, nice if you can get one of the window tables for breakfast, which was a really good buffet, good variety that you could really fill up on! Or in the evening to sit out on the veranda, one of the more spacious ones on the canal. Staff were very attentive and were very helpful when our aircon was playing up. There is easy access from the airport; simply get on the bus outside the airport to 'Venice-Piazalle Roma' its about 20mins drive, about 3euro, the hotel is a short walk away (although over a couple of bridges). I would really recommend this hotel and would go back tomorrow!!!
“"Good Location"”
We stayed at the Principe a couple of years ago and knew pretty much what to expect. All of the rooms are different and interesting. Some of us received larger rooms and we were not altogether (on the same floor). Perhaps, we should have requested this; their were 8 in our group. Sometimes the staff could be a bit inpatient but overall the staff at the desk appeared to do their best to accommodate our needs. The hotel is clean and quiet. We felt safe and enjoyed our stay. Would I go back--yes-- and, make the necessary request to have the very best experience. The hotel should really get access to the internet. We could see that they had the equipment but nothing was connected. Connection to the interact would have been a nice perk.
“When in Venice”
Hotel is close to both the train and bus station and directly situated on the Grand Canale. The breakfast room overlooks the Grand Canale and you can watch the boots going past. Outside are lots of shops and it takes about 30 minutes to walk to San Marco or just take the boot. The room was specious and clean. I would stay there again.
