“Would go back!!”
Excellent location, excellent service. The rooms are small but clean with a nice bathroom. A very small elevator and no breakfast included. We asked for a nice view and they gave us a room with a great view of the Eiffel tower. We certainly go back.
“Great Hotel in Venice price, location, you get it all”
We spent 3 nights in this hotel. Excellent choice, easy to get to by the Vaporetto (line 42 or 52) from the railway. The hotel is close to everything - 2 minutes . It is really calm as we don't hear anything in our room. The only bad point at this hotel is the breakfast that is a little bit small. Apart from that everything is amazing, easy, confortable. We would recommend the hotel.
“Highly recommended. Refurbished. Air con. Clean. Great location...”
Had a two night stay here and was delighted. Great location for me and could walk anywhere within 30-40 minutes. Breakfast was good quality continental buffet. Room was large, bed comfortable and everything clean. Bathroom was large and shower was great. Recommended.
“Great location”
It's close to the water bus of San Marco stop, everything is very convenient for the first time visitor.
“Would recommend with some issues!”
When we arrived I was quite disappointed with the external appearance of the hotel- it looked very tatty and tired with the dirty old bench and two chairs outside. The initial service was ok though not very welcoming or warm. The lobby looked a lot more grubby than the photos and the carpet was full of stains. OUr room was nOT the room I thought I had booked on-line which had full length windows out to the lagoon but was ok. Nice bathroom, fridge and safe. There was air-con but SO NOISY we had to turn it off. Breakfast buffet was in the annex literally 5 mins walk and was ok and plentiful though the building looked likeit was decorated in 1960!! The plus points are the position is so close to the vapporeto stop and the view from the front was amazing. It's noisy though as a major tourist route right infront of the hotel. Great position to explore Venice from. The service really varied from quite basic to very helpful.
“Brilliant location”
Excellent location for a lower priced hotel - a few metres from the Doge's Palace and around the corner from St Mark's Basilica. A comfortable hotel with all you need - not super luxurious. Walls a bit thin and no views from the annexe but you are warned about this. Breakfast was fine - the usual continental rolls, meat and cheese and hard boiled eggs and cereal and yogurt thrown in for good measure.
“Good Hotel in Great Location”
The Paganelli is right beside the Vaporetto stop at Zaccharia and 300 yards from St Marks Square yet is still a quiet and friendly hotel. We had an interior room in the original part of the building which was spotlessly clean and looked over a small courtyard. The staff were helpful and friendly. There is no restaurant, but the breakfast in the annexe was adequate and there is no shortage of eating places around. All round, a nice, small hotel in a great location and much recommended.
“Baby Friendly”
We indicated that we were bringing an infant with us. The hotel put us up in a beautiful room; away from everyone else (infants yell loud sometimes!) and even had a pack and play set up in our room when we arrived. The other two hotels we stayed in during our vacation didn't even offer a pack and play as an option while we stood there at the front desk holding the baby! The free breakfasts provided by the hotel were the best meals we had in Venice. The hotel is a very short walk from major attractions and a water taxi is right outside the door. It couldn't have been more convenient. The great price and friendly staff were just an added bonuses.
“Amazing Value”
The Hotel Paganelli is a great hotel. It is amazing value for what you get. First of all it is easy to find in the often confusing layout of Venice. It is right next to the Piazza San Marco, the central square of Venice, and on the waterfront facing out toward the Adriatic. Because of the central location it is easy to visit the sites of Venice and always find your way back (which can sometimes be a challenge), because you just have to walk toward San Marco. The hotel itself is very modern, comfortable, and clean. The rooms were spacious and well furnished, with excellent clean and modern bathrooms. The staff were courteous and very helpful. The breakfast was one of the best I have had in any Italian hotel. Overall I was extremely satisfied and would definitely return the next time I visit Venice.
“Our great short visit”
We had less than 24 hours for our visit to Venice. We took advice from reviewers. The ATVO bus from airport to main station on the island was easy. From the station you can find the waterbus easily. We took the number 2 bus which gave a grand water tour through the canal all the way to San Marco area where we got off to visit the plaza. We finished our visit there before taking a short walk to the hotel to check in. At the hotel reception we were able to pick up more information for restaurant and walking route to other sites on the island. We had a great meal and a very nice walk around the island. It wasn't hard, just follow the crowds. Checking on our map (given by the hotel) for directions we were able to come back to the hotel. The next morning, instead of taking the waterbus to go back to the station, the hotel receptionist gave us a marked up map for a very nice morning walk back to the station just in time for the bus to take us back to the airport for our flight out of there. It only took us an hour to get to the station with a couple of quick stops for souveniers. It was great.

San Marco, Venice, Italy: San Marco (St Marks) is quintessential visitors Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
