The following mandatory hotel-imposed fees are charged and collected by the hotel either at check-in or check-out.
- A tax is imposed by the city: EUR 4.5 per person, per night for guests 16 and older and EUR 2.25 per person, per night for guests aged 10-15 years old. This tax does not apply to residents of Venice City. Further exemptions may apply, subject to submission of proper documents to the property, to patients, their companions and people staying in the city for specific purposes/duties. The tax only applies to the first 5 nights of a stay, and is collected at the property in cash. 50% reduction applies for 2011: from 1 November to 4 December and 12 to 22 December and for 2012: from 9 January to 3 February, 23 February to 31 March, 1 November to 2 December and 10 to 22 December.

“Solid Hotel”

the hotel's location is a somewhat out of the way... rooms are big and comfortable... hotel can use a little more maintenance... nevertheless, a solid hotel overall

“Luxurious room”

This is quite a luxurious and elegant hotel. Room was exceptionally large and nicely furnished. Breakfast was fabulous! Hotel staff were very efficient and courteous. San Mark's Square easily reached via complementary boat shuttle so this was not a problem staying at the Lido and avoiding the masses.

“Good but needs refurbishing”

Fantastic location Well run with generally good service and excellent facilities. Well maintained (clean ) but showing signs of wear and it's obviously decades since last refurbishment. Needs major work and spend to return the hotel to it's one time magnificence. Breakfast good not amazing. Enjoyable stay overall.

“Eurpean Vacation - Venice”

The Hotel Excelsior was a wonderful way to start our Italian holiday. The staff were extremely helpful and provided advice and guidance on the best way to meet our needs. The Hotels free shuttle service between Lido island and Venice made the visits back and forwards extremely easy and pleasant. Overall just a great service and loved the experience. Thank You!!

“Relaxinh Haven”

I cant praise this hotel enough and would go back in future. I had booked three days here and two in the city itself, right next to the Rialto bridge but now my trip is over, I wished that I had stayed at the Excelsior! The room was huge and comfortable, the pool area was just the thing for a busy morning exploring Venice and the FREE launch to and from St Marks square is such a boon and only takes 20 mins each way - and what a way to spend 20 mins, going across the lagoon every day, with such sights - magical.

“a hotel with history and glamour”

Had a very warm welcome and a bottle of prosecco and fruit for my birthday. the staff at the beach, the breakfast room, housekeeping, reception and concierge couldn't be more helpful; nothing was a problem and they were friendly and extremely professional. we'll definitely go back to the Excelsior Lido in Venice.

Getting there

the easiest and cheapest way to get to the Excelsior hotel from the airport is the boat "Linea Rossa" to Lido Casino' which is just a short walk from the hotel.

“Lovely Lido”

Great location near the conference venue. Complimentary boat from hotel dock to Venice. Slightly dated decor, but clean and tidy. Very friendly helpful staff - especially the concierges. Would stay there again.

“hot, no AC, extremely expensive water”

The hotel is located on the lido, on a nice beach, great old world charm. The AC did not work during my stay from may 20 to 25, rooms were very hot, and the water in the fridge very expensive, I nneded at least two bottles a night to stay hydrated, over 10 euros... Mosquitoes were present too, I did not sleep well in this hotel. There was a bar restaurant on the terrace, selling 20 euro salads, essentialy a lettuce with an egg on top, and 10 euros for a beer or glass of wine, outrageous, unfortunately not a lot of dining options in the neighborhood, best is to take advantage of the hotel's great water shuttle service to go to venice for dinner.

“Very Disappointed”

We stayed at this hotel many years ago when it was under different ownership and was looking forward to our visit. I was so dissapointed to find a tired run-down hotel masquerading as a 5 star lux hotel. This is now in reality a 3 star conference hotel - there was a major Tupperware conference while we were there. The bathrooms had tarnished fittings and old shower curtains the bedroom was large but poorly furnished and unappealing and the breakfast and dining were disappointing. To top it all the concierge bookked ballet tickets for me and gave me the wrong start time so I missed the first act. When I complained to the management they told me this was not really a service provided by the hotel and didn't even apologise. The location is inconvenient - the aiport transter to the Lido is €140 each way and the hotel shuttle to Venice is only hourly and didn't run during lunch. Better to pay a little more and stay at the Gritti Palace or Danieli or for the same price I would recomment the Saturnia or Flora Hotels. We won't be going back.

“Lovely hotel away from the crowds - access to beach and parks”

We enjoyed our stay here. We got a great deal on Expedia for going slightly off season. All the amenities were not up and running yet (kids club, pool, shops) - however, it was perfect for what we needed (quiet place to stay with alot of room after sightseeing in Venice with young children). The kids went to the beach even though it was cool (but sunny) and loved it. The staff couldn't be friendlier. Breakfast was lovely and comprehensive. The water shuttle left from just underneath the hotel to San Marco and was well worth it. We really didn't need to buy any public transport other than the first ride in. We recommend going to the little town on the Lido for dinner - less expensive, less touristy and just as good. Rent a tandem bike and go to the park.
