“Great little reasonably priced hotel easily accessible to Venice”

A bit of a distance from downtown Venice (about 12-15 min) but new, clean, well decorated/designed and very reasonably priced. Not fancy in the sense of a 5 star hotel but nicely done. The bus is easily accessible and getting into downtown Venice is easy; getting back to the hotel is only slightly more complicated. I would definitely stay there again if I get the chance to get back to Venice (which was fantastic).

Area recommendations
Get lost in Venice (which is easy to do and also easy to find your way out) - everything is fantastic. Must see the government building/Doge, Piazza San Marco w/St. Mark's Basillica. Everything that you would like to see can't be seen in a day and there is a lot of walking (to include up/down stairs) - come prepared.

“Amazing!!!”

Modern room, very cool! Close to airport and downtown, fast friendly clean service. English was awesome, staff was helpful with recommendations for travel to Venice and restaurants. AWESOME!!

“Great location for access to Venice”

The hotel is based in Mestre, across the brgidge to Venice. The bus into Venice runs frequently from a stop just around the corner from the hotel and is a ten minute run into the centre of Venice. It was easy to dump the car at the hotel and travel in by bus. The local all inclusive travel ticket covers the bus rund as well as water transport in the city, so good value, especially when parking costs of cars in Venice taken into account. I'd happily stay here again

“Highly satisfied”

The best hotel I stayed in my Italian trip. Modern, clean, good room size and bath room as well, very good breakfast, with gym, massage chair. To get there you don't need to buy train ticket to Venice, just buy ticket to Mestre, there is also bus available from hotel to Mestre train station. You may need to go by bus for a few stops to get more choices of reataurant.

“Great modern hotel”

The Hotel Elite is modern and very well designed. The room was basic but very comfortable and clean, all we needed as we were out seeing the sights all day. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice, but the 'hot food' could do with being kept a little hotter! Location was good. It is only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop to get over to Venice.

Getting around
Water buses are great and very easy to use. 72 hour bus pass is excellent value for money.
Shopping
You certainly don't need to visit Murano Island to get your glass. The prices in the shops on Venice are variable so shop around. Don't buy what you see first time, have wonder and I guarantee you will find it cheaper elsewhere. Certainly don't buy close to St Marks Square or Rialto Bridge, very expensive. But do check you are not buying 'imports' look for the Murano sign on your glass wear. Also lace on Burano Island can be very expensive, so like wise shop around. There are deals to be had.
Dining
Never eat around the main tourist spots ( St Marks / Rialto etc) It is worth wondering in the back streets because you will get a very good meal and a lot cheaper there.

“not impressed”

the hotel looked clean and everything was in order with the exception of the most uncomfortable mattresses ever. We were given a double room made up of two twin beds put together. One of the mattresses had more use and abuse (too much) than the other so naturally the bed was uneven.

“Modern and Well Located”

Clean modern rooms. Breakfast was more than adequate. The location was very convenient for getting to Venice, just a bus ride (#12) to the vaporetto #1. Also very easy to get to Marco Polo Airport: just a few steps from the Hotel, I caught an inexpensive ATVO bus at 5.20am which took me to the airport . The big surprise was the proximity of this hotel to Piazza Ferreto, downtown Mestre, which was filled with people on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Good location to watch the Venice marathon.

“Great Venice Hotel”

Clean, modern hotel. Staff very helpful, friendly and speak English. Good size rooms for Europe. 5 minute walk to the bus stop which takes you directly into Venice. Good breakfast program.

“Good hotel, but I would try and stay closer to water taxi station.”

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel gives good information about how to take the bus to and from the water taxi to get to Venice and back to the hotel. The hotel room is perfect is you are only using it to sleep. It is well designed to take advantage of all the space in the room. The bathroom was very nice and had a few ammenities. The breakfast in the morning was sufficent and good coffee. It was a good experience, but next visit to Venice I would try and stay in Venice of closer to the water taxi station.

Area recommendations
I would resommend future travelers to try and stay near the water taxi station (within walking distance) or in Venice. If buget is the issue, the Hotel Elite was good and I would recommend it.
Dining
Get a book or look up recommended places to eat in Venice. We had alot of misses as far as food went. In Top Ten Venice book they list a gelato place (green awnings) that is the BEST gelato I have ever had. Worth the lines and crowds. There is a pizza place that is difficult to find called Buffato or Buffeto (I think) and they had amazing pizza. Watch for bread charges. When you are not watching they put a bread basket on your table and charge a few euro for it. There is no such thing as tap water. It all comes in a bottle that is a few euro too.
