Lovely hotel, staff and good location

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: Muesli at breakfast would have been a bonus!
Location: Great location and everything is within easy reach even the boat to the airport is only a 5 minute walk away!
Met on arrival by a friendly receptionist named Tilly. He armed us with lots of useful information regarding the hotel, Venice and the surrounding area. Lady who made the coffee at breakfast was very friendly and took great amusement in my husband ordering 4 cappucinos!! The hotel has a lovely history and is situated right on a canal just a stones throw from Stade Nuvo - one of the main streets!

Good Location

Posted 22-Jul-2014
Standard room was adequate for our needs (couple in our late 20s). Didn't spend much time in the room but it was perfect location- easy walk to Rialto and the supermarket round the corner helped keep costs down (water was half the price compared to other shops closer to St Mark') The bathroom was a decent size but the shower was a tad small but not a problem. The room was cleaned everday but on arrival I couldn't say it was spotless. Breakfast was enough to keep us going till lunch time- decent variety. There is a great restraunt right opposite the front of the hotel. Overall if you get a good deal and you aren't planning on spending huge amounts of time in the hotel as we did then this is perfect- better off saving cash to spend while out and about in beautiful Venice.

Excellent hotel in a brilliant location

I cannot recommend this hotel enough - extremely comfy traditional room, set back off the main trail of tourists, but 2mins from grand canal and 10 from Rialto and San Marco areas. Lovely staff, extremely willing to help in anyway possible.

Not just for Honeymooners

Posted 23-Jun-2014
Prior to arrival, the hotel staff were very eager to give us directions, but we figured we could work it out. Pointer: take good notes of the directions they give you. We arrived at the train station and quickly realized we had no idea how to get to the hotel. Also, we quickly learned that directions are typically given by referencing the number of bridges ("ponti"), so keep that in mind. We made a go of it on our own, without asking for directions--mistake--though, we eventually made it there. Once we arrived at the hotel, we were very pleased. The staff were always happy to help us, answer questions, give advice on where to eat, book tickets for various shows/performances/activities for us. The rooms were clean and neat. The buildings are about 400 years old. That in mind, we were very impressed with how clean and nice the rooms were. Breakfast was very good--better than any "Continental Breakfast" I've had in the States. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay.

Great hotel and extremely friendly personnel. The receptions were really friendly and never refused to help. The room was very clean and neat, as well as the breakfast. It had a really good location which was very useful to get in and out of the city.

Weekend Break

Posted 18-Jun-2014
Pros: Lovely old building but with modern en suite facilities. Very good shower
Location: Quiet area but only a short walk away from the main area and attractions. Good restaurants and bars locally, good quality food and plenty of choice.
great hotel, had an economy room but perfectly adequate for our needs as we didn't spend much time there. as on the ground floor overlooking the canal. Hotel provide a good buffet breakfast. The fresh fruit was excellent. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

great period property, reminiscent of old venice

Posted 09-Jun-2014
Pros: most things
Cons: a nice outdoor seating area or shared terrace to relax with a beer or coffee
Location: very central by Guiglee bridge, ten minutes from Rialto and San Marco. Good quality restaurants short distance away
lovely old period building with beautiful facade, stunning entrance hall, a little bit spoiled by plastic banner showing the hotel name just far enough off of the main pedestrian route to escape. lovely big old Venetian style room, but there was a couple of minor gripes! the double bed was two singles put together and there was no air conditioning just a heater in the corner of the room, obvious renovation going on outside window which meant view was of tarpaulins from 2 windows and crane started work every morning at 7.30! Some of the other rooms are not as nice according to other guests especially the modern ones. staff were very informative and helped out with restaurant recommendations and travel ideas, breakfast good enough

What a gem!

Pros: Everything
We stayed at this hotel for three days. It is beautiful! Such Venitian elegance. We stayed in a junior suite with canal view (room 203) which was lovely. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge and 15-20minutes walk from St Marks Square. It is situated in a lovely quiet part of Venice but you do not feel removed or left out of the wonderful Venitian atmosphere. Whilst staying at the hotel we learnt that our Easyjet flight home had been cancelled due to industrial action. Beatrice and Camilla in the hotel reception could not have been more helpful trying to find alternative travel and accommodation for us. Camilla suggested and booked us into a delightful hotel (Park Annia) right by the airport for our extra night in Venice. Nothing was too much trouble for her. We will definitely return to this hotel again next time we visit Venice.
