“A gem of a hotel”
We were not disappointed with this hotel; it lived up to the glowing reviews of others. Old world charm combined with modern comfort, pleasant staff, good location.
“Good Hotel”
Good central situation and, despite being only a couple of hundred yards from St Mark's Square, nice and quiet at the end of a cul-de-sac. Friendly helpful staff. Large clean room. Rather dull complimentary breakfast brought to the room. Minor criticisms were 1.Small scale maintainace not very good. fittings tended to fall off the walls. 2.'Free WiFi' was not available in our room. we had to go to a neighbouring sister hotel before we could pick up emails etc. None the less we'd be happy to return
“exactly as described”
The hotel was exactly as descibed and we stayed in the Red room in the photographs. Typical over the top Venitian style with a huge chandelier which just added to the charm. We visted for a family wedding and the hotel staff were great at giving directions to the various venues we had to find.
“Very Impressed with the hotel, service, room and the view”
This is a 'gem' right at the doorstep of St Marks Sq. Hotel staff was very polite and helpful. The room was beautiful, clean, and what a view from your window. I recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Excellent holiday base”
The hotel was located very conveniently close to St Mark's Square, the hub of tourist activity in Venice. So many brilliant places to visit were within easy walking distance. Although very centrally located the hotel had a very peaceful, serene air, and was a delightful base to return to and to relax in. The quality of accommodation was first class and the service very friendly and helpful. The morning breakfast delivered to the room was a treat!
“Excellent on all counts!”
The location of this hotel is fantastic, just a few mins walk from Mark's Square and easy to find: go through the arch from the square under the clock, first right and right the way along til you hit the bridge. The staff were very friendly and welcoming - I did wonder if our jeans and trainers would be frowned upon in a 4 star, but this was not the case at all - we felt completely at home. The room was beautiful, very dramatic with high beamed ceilings, venetian long drapes, marble floors. We even had a balcony looking down on the street and canal where you could see the gondolas floating past and late afternoons you could hear the gondala serenade! The bed was firm but comfy. Breakfast served in your room was satisfying and offered a good range. The only thing I missed was tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but there are so many cafes around to get this.
“Winter in Venice”
Just arrived back from Venice with my wife. This hotel was perfect, situated just round the corner from San Marco, with at least 5 (good - excellent) resturants within 30 seconds walk (3 of which are attached to the hotel, so dont be frightened to ask for a discount!). Your choice of breakfast was served in your room, at the time you request, and the waiter was excellent. My only criticism was the hardness of the bed and the weather (bring your wellies in winter!!) but I suppose you can't please them all! Overall this hotel was a great find that I would deffinately recommend to others.
“Absolutely lovely.”
We spent our honeymoon in this lovely hotel. It's in a great location. The room was beautiful and the staff really helpful and friendly (as opposed other some Venitians we encountered whom we found generally to be surly and unhelpful!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if in Venice again we would definitely stay at this hotel.
“Lovely Hotel”
Just spent 4 nights at this lovely hotel. Its location is very close to St Mark's Square - easy to pop back to for a rest before getting back to the excitement of San Marco. The decor of the room was elegant & sumptuous. It was very clean and towels etc. were changed daily. The shower was not the best as it was handheld and as we never have baths (preferring to shower) the spa bath was wasted on us. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times, even bringing breakfast to the room half an hour before it 's usually served so we could eat before leaving for an early flight. Having breakfast in the room every morning was fantastic (no rushing to be up and dressed to get to a dining room) it makes a leisurely start to a busy day exploring Venice. The daily weather report left in the room with a handful of sweets the evening before was generally accurate, and a nice touch. Disappointed not to have seen the Bridge of Sighs - it was shrouded in scaffolding and covers and only visible from the other side - but that was nothing to do with the Hotel. The ongoing building work opposite didn't really bother us because we were around the corner overlooking the Calle, it was great looking down into the street, 'people watching' the passersby on their way to and from the glass factory over the bridge on the other side of the canal. We had a wonderful time in Venice, made more special by staying in this hotel. I would definitely recommend staying there.
“Stunning Room - Real Wow Factor”
Very comfortable room with grand furnishings a stone's throw from St Mark's Square. Breakfast is served in the room - which works better than you might think - and is plentiful. I would use it again.

Area:
San Marco, Venice, Italy: San Marco (St Marks) is quintessential visitors Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
