“A lovely hotel although the room could have been a bit bigger”
We booked this hotel for our honeymoon on the basis of lots of positive views I'd seen about it. The hotel was lovely, extremely clean which is a must for me, the service was mostly excellent and it was in a fantastic location just a few minutes walk from the Rialto bridge, St Mark's Square and great shopping. I was slightly disappointed with the size of our junior suite but it was immaculate and exceptionally clean. I guess that's Venice for you. The staff at reception were always extremely polite and helpful. The only reason for not being 100 satisfied with this hotel was the breakfast. They didn't regularly top up items (bacon, cold meats etc even early in the morning) when they had been finished and given that there was limited choice this was not ideal. We also had to wait longer than I would have liked to order a coffee as the waiters spent a lot of their time in the kitchen rather than dining room although it always came straight away when you ordered it. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I ever go back to Venice.
“Great hotel”
The hotel is wonderfully situated and really nice. Old fashioned furniture but clean and with all the modern comforts. The rooms really make you feel like your in Venice with the silks and upholstry. The service is good as your bed is turned down every evening. Staff are helpful but not extremely friendly. Not rude just not warm, however they will serve your every need. We enjoyed our stay there.
“charming hotel best location”
beautiful renovated rooms. excellent location
“Fantastic hotel”
Amazing location, very helpful and attentive staff. We are extremely happy with the choice we made. I will recommend this hotel to all my friends and definetely will stay there again...
“La Commedia - comfort close to the Rialto”
We visited the Hotel A La Commedia for the first time this October, swayed by the mostly positive reviews on Tripadvisor. It lived up to these, with the comfort, style and decor of the room, the location and the service. The staff on the desk were unfailingly charming and helpful (although there was an attempt at interesting us in a free trip to Murano and a special group gondalier offer). The location is very good - literally round the corner from the Rialto vaporetto and maybe 5-10 minutes walk to St Mark's (when we didn't get lost - but that doesnt really matter in Venice!) Alll in all a hotel wewould recomend.
“Classy and clean”
This place was recently renovated and is very classy. The rooms are rather small, but I think that's typical for Venice.
“One of the Best in Venice”
Great hotel, very clean and elegant. Has good rooms
“WONDERFUL HOTEL”
This is a great hotel in a terrific location. The staff was extremely helpful. Rooftop bar was pleasant. Would definitely return!
“Nice hotel, excellent location.”
Location almost perfect for Venice. Only two minutes walk from Rialto Bridge and well situated for access to vaporetto stops including to the airport and railway station. If you fly to Venice .get the Alilaguna Arancio line from the airport and get off at Rialto. The hotel’s website gives good directions from the Rialto Bridge. Also a minute walk away from the main pedestrian/shopping streets and five minutes from San Marco. Hotel itself was a comfortable oasis of cool in a heatwave in Venice. Air conditioning and room cleaning excellent. Staff efficient, informative and courteous. Room adequate for the price, taking into account that Venice is generally more expensive than other cities. Negatives are small points: - Breakfast although adequate was the not the quality experienced in other 4 star hotels in Italy. It had selection of cold meats, but limited cheeses cereals and breads. Hot dishes were scrambled eggs and streaky bacon. Also if you like to read about a hotel’s facilities or more general tourist information you can’t because there is no information in the room. As is common in Italy, you have to ask, although reception staff will offer you guided walks or trips. It pays to research before you go and we found the veniceconnected website useful for pre-purchasing transport and museum tickets. Also, have a good, detailed map of Venice and prepare to be lost occasionally anyway. But Venice is well worth visiting and I would use this hotel again.
“Best hotel we have stayed at in Venice”
Excellent hotel. Very stylish and comfortable. Room was quite luxurious and very quiet. Staff were very efficient and helpful. Breakfast was quite good - by Italian standards. Position was excellent - 100 yards from Rialto Bridge. The only downside was the price which was expensive although not especially so for hotels in Venice. We shall return.

San Marco, Venice, Italy: San Marco (St Marks) is quintessential visitors Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
