Nice hotel, but rooms a bit tired looking Posted 03-Dec-2014
The hotel is pleasing from the outside and the lobby are and main concourse is nicely maintained and pleasing to the eye. The individual rooms vary quite a bit. The first room we were allotted on arrival was at the back of the hotel overlooking the air conditioning plant and a brick wall - pretty dreary. This was a superior or deluxe room. Payment of a further 50 euros per night upgraded us to a room with a view at the front. The furnishings, fixtures etc are not great. The room looked a bit tired with stained carpets, worn upholstery etc. The interior decor is also very unimaginative and rather out of date. Room cleanliness was also not particularly good. Surfaces etc were a bit sticky. In terms of value for money it is a medium rating only. Staff were however very helpful and invariably polite. All in all it was still a good stay, but recommend specifying rooms, as out first allotted room was a bit depressing and not somewhere special, as I had hoped. when you add on the extra money for a room with a view of the sea, it is not quite such good value. Fine for a conference perhaps, but not for a romantic holiday. The location of the hotel is quite isolated, and the selection of local restaurants, cafes etc a bit limited/ However, it was pleasantly quiet at night.
Comment from Hotel Management
Dear Mr. Mike, thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and liked our structure, lobby, staff and quietness. We are sorry if you thought that the layout of the room and the cleanliness were not up to standard, we will pass your comment to our Executive Housekeeper in order to improve our service. As you noticed, we have rooms with lagoon view and rooms with internal view or courtyard view. The rooms with view are a different category and a different price range applies. On our website we advertise both types, with the relative prices. On Giudecca island there is a selection of typical Venetian restaurants and bars, which are much less touristy than those in the San Marco and Rialto area. We thank you again and look forward to welcoming you back Thank you and best regards Riccardo Ranzato Guest Relations Manager
