“Very Disapointing”

For location this Hotel is excellent, everything else - oh dear. Met with complete indifference by Hotel reception staff, shown to a room which was a small double with a single bed squashed between the bed and the wardrobe. Our view was of the next doors washing and the birds mess ontop of the Hotel roof. Breakfast area which we thought would be the highlight of the Hotel was filled with birds on the tables, eating the food from the serving area whilst staff just walked by. We thought we would take the stairs rather than the unreliable lift but found we could only go down one floor. There was a gate stopping any travel further. We looked for assistance or signs but in the end had to walk back up and again wait for the lift. Travelling throughout Italy this was the biggest disappointment and almost the most expensive Hotel. Our recommendation, stay at the Lido di Venice, you'll get much more for your money, better standard and transfers every 10 mins to Venice.

Area recommendations
Lido de Venice. Better standard of Hotels, fraction of costs, easy transfer to venice.

“Will not go back.”

It was ok, was clean, although on the second day we arrived at 3pm and very tired, the room was as we left it the day before, bed wasnt made yet. Breakfast was good, and people at the front desk were nice. The hotel was very old, we asked for a queen bed and got two tweens put together, terrible pillows, the bathroom was small but water ran ok. Far too expensive for what we got, then again everything in Venice is expensive, Next time we will look harder and earlier.

Area recommendations
As close as you can get to San Marcos.
Getting there
We arrived at the train station, lots of peoplen we had 2 suitcases each, hired a water taxi. The best one ever, if you can by all means take one, costs around 100 euros, but in Venice it felt like you were in amovie, it was very fast and confortable and as you reach the city the view was amaizing, if I go back, I definately get on one again.

“Great place, Perfect location!”

I stayed here for three nights in a small room on the fourth floor. The room had two twin beds even though I was alone, which gave me lots of extra space. The bathroom was beautiful, with a huge tub and a heated towel rack. The air conditioning kept my room really cold, sometimes too cold! The breakfast is amazing, it includes anything you could want, and they serve coffee and hot chocolate directly to you at your table. It is very close to the Arsenal, a focus point of my trip as I was there for the Venice Biennial. It is also close to San Marcos Plaza, and in between vaporetto stops. The only things that bothered me about the hotel were that the internet is expensive (4 euro for a half an hour) and the people that work at the front desk are not the nicest. Overall, I would definitely return.

Area recommendations
Anything around San Marcos is great, and so is the area around Pallazzo Loredan (both areas have good food, good shopping and beautiful sights to see.)

“"Enjoyed Our Stay"”

Overall an excellent stay! Great location on 4 bridges from St Mark's Square. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast each morning in the courtyard and the staff was very friendly and efficent. Front desk staff was very helpful with suggestions and recommendations on where to eat and what to see. The guest rooms were nice, the bed was not comfortable is our only negative about the entire stay.

“A Brief but Wonderful Visit”

I was recently on an all-too-brief trip to Venice after a business meeting in Milan. The Gabrielli Sandwirth was an Expedia pick, and after much deliberation about it's distance from the train station, I decided to book it. I was delighted with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. My single room (although small) was very comfortable and with a very nice bathroom. I was very grateful for the air conditioning as this was in hot days in June. The hotel restaurant was very nice, the quality of the food very good and at reasonable prices (for Venice). The continental breakfast was very good. The inner courtyard and gardens were delightful, and the rooftop patio provided a breathtaking vista of the Grand Canal and the harbour. The only downside was the wireless internet was very slow and coverage spotty inside this historic building, and as this was an extension of a business trip, created some challenges for me. Internet access at the computer supplied just off the lobby was very fast, but I was unable to connect my laptop there. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel, it was a delightful experience.

Getting there
I arrived in Venice from Milan using the FrecceBianca train. A second class ticket was very reasonable, and the train was clean and reasonably comfortable for the 2.5 hour trip. This was my first visit to Venice, and I was very unsure of how difficult it would be to reach the hotel, which was clearly too far to walk with luggage, with significant risk of getting lost. A little more research on the Vaporetti (water-bus) routes and schedule, as well as on the ferry ride to the airport the morning of my departure put me at ease. I recommend purchasing your Vaporetti ticket from the magazine shop on the right (there are other sellers). If not, you may find yourself standing in line for an extended period of time on the canal (in the hot sun). Also, please note that the actual water-bus pick up points are mostly not located at the ticket booth on the canal. Look carefully for signs that point to the pickup and dropoff point for your route, and then be careful to find the one that will take you to your destination directly. In my case it was the number 1, and this pick-up was about 80 metres to the right of the ticket booth on the canal. Remember to validate your ticket by waving it in front of the machine at the wharf. The dropoff point for the Gabrielli hotel is Arsenale, the second stop beyond San Marco. Departing I had an early flight out of Marco Polo, and .took the Allilaguna Blu line from Arsenale to the airport, about 50 minutes at that 4 in the morning (!).
Getting around
The hotel is very conveniently located near Piazza San Marco and served as an excellent base for my exploration over 2 days. The only down side is that many of the tour boats for this part of the city use the wharf directly in front of the hotel, and this lead to a constant stream of visitors arriving and departing, which I found a bit overwhelming at times. If you don’t like crowds, I would recommend staying away from the waterfront from about 10 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. Use that time to explore the many areas north and east of the hotel. Mornings and evenings on the waterfront are delightful. In order to avoid the heavy crowds, I spent some time at the Arsenale, as well as in the parks to the east of the hotel. In the evenings I spend time in San Marco and other main areas (although too late for the museums). If I had more time, I would have used my Vaporetti ticket to go around grand canal on routes 41 or 42 and disembarked when the mood struck me, and then resumed my tour. It is a very good idea to print the Vaporetti schedules, as some routes stop serving some locations after about 8 in the evening.

“Excelent location”

Well localized to see the events of the Bienalle just walking, and to come and go to the airport (pier Arsenalle). Rooms are large and comfortable and the internal open space for the breakfast very pleasant. Nice people too.

Area recommendations
We spent our time in Giardinni and Arsenale due to the Bienalle. Also San Marco and Rialto must be seen of course. But it is only a small part. Venice is really special and its appeal is above the competitors.

“Best hotel place with the lagoon view”

The hotel is in a very good place. 10 mins to San Marco and has a shuttle water-taxi to Murano every half an hour. The staff is very nice and helping.

Area recommendations
San Marco square and Rialto Bridge is must to go every day. Go to Murano to see demonstration of glass work. And buy some souvenirs. And go to Burano to see a very exciting small island village with different colors of every house.
Dining
Near Rialto Bridge, there are good restaurants.
Outdoors or beach
There is a heli-tour, which is very cheap and it is a private tour for 2. I would recommend that. It was amazing.

“the location was excellant will stay there again”

The hotel should have coffee available before 7:00 A.M. for guests and it should be free for guests. The same goes for water.

Area recommendations
The city is beautiful and I would recommend any where in the city as it is clean and safe. The same goes for the islands surrounding the city.

“Excellent Venice Hotel”

This hotel is just four bridges (a short walk) from St. Mark's Square. Water taxis and ferries dock in front of the hotel, but there is minimal noise if the room windows are closed. The furniture is traditional but comfortable. The complimentary breakfast is very good. The staff is extremely helpful. The solarium on the top floor is a great place to have a drink and watch the world go by. This may be the best bargain in Venice.

Area recommendations
This is the place to be. When leaving the hotel, the 'action' is to the right. If you want good food at more affordable prices, good shopping, etc. walk to the left. A grocery store there is the place to buy food, snacks, wine, etc.
