Our 25th Anniversary was great. We had a spacious sea view room and a surprise delivery of strawberries and champagne for our special day. Exceptional staff, especially the concierge, Anna, who recommended cafes and sites and travel arrangements. Kudos!
Hotel Al Sole - real taste of Italy - oldie with lots of charm. Great location 5 min from bus/train station. Everything on ur doorstep just walk out of hotel doors and loose urself in the alleys & canals around Venice. A surprise at every corner you turn & all major sight seeing attractions in easy walking distance.
I loved my "garret" room up on the fourth floor of this classic hotel.
Travelling alone and travelling light my bag was carried up to my room for me after having been given a friendly welcome at reception.
It was a wonderfully quiet place to stay which perfectly suited my needs.
At breakfast it was evident that a good number of guests were staying and from all nations but it was never noisy. Guests were respectful of each other's privacy but were friendly.
The breakfast, continental unless otherwise requested, was ample with a good range to choose from.
I chose not to eat in the restaurant which looked lovely although it was at the upper end of the price scale.
My only real disappointment was the lack of facilities for making drinks, either hot or cold. Once the bar closed at 10.30 or 11.00pm there was no way to obtain anything to drink.
This hotel is not the cheapest but it is beautifully situated in comfortable walking distance to St Mark's Square, the Rialto or the Academia bridge. So all the key locations are within easy reach.
I'd definitely go there again.
"Lovely friendly hotel - couldn't be more helpful"
From the moment we arrived all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and beautifully furnished, and the breakfast is tasty and filling. What more do you need to know? The hotel has a charm all its own and I would recommend anyone to stay here.
This is a very pleasant and friendly hotel. The situation is excellent, easy to get to (importantly, it's only a few minutes' walk from a waterbus stop and a traghetto crossing on the Grand Canal) and an easy walk from several major landmarks. My room, although the cheapest, was a good size and included a huge wet room/shower, minibar, ipad with free wifi, desk, etc. The breakfast was fantastic, including freshly made crepes and omelettes, fresh fruit, hot savoury pastries, fresh cakes, rolls, meats, etc. The staff were helpful and friendly, even checking the day before I left that I knew about a public transport strike on the day of my departure and offering to help. I would happily stay here again.
