“Wonderful Experience”
Canareggio is a quite charming part of Venice, away from the crowds, but a short walk to the Rialto and St Mark's Square. This hotel is very comfortable and the staff were attentive and friendly. The hotel restaurant and bar are quite expensive, but as there are several lovely restaurants and bars nearby which are frequented largely by locals, there's no reason to use them. I would certainly recommend this hotel and stay there again.
“Oh so quiet”
This is a great hotel if all you want is a comofotable room in a grand looking hotel. The staff were very friendly if a little sparse. Besides a plethora of reception staff, I only saw one cleaner and one barman the rest of my stay. Theerenever ssmed to be any cusotmers in the bar or restaurant. The air-conditioning was also non-existent. When questioned I was told that it will not be switched on until later in the season! The location was perfect, being approximately 30 minutes walk from St Marco Square yet in a very tranquil area. It was a mere two minute walk form the closest ACTV boat stop with a boat going directly between the airport and to the island of Murano. The only slight problem was no shops or bars to be seen, the closest being a five minute walk. Overall I would recommend this hotel for couples and families who want a quiet relaxed break in relative luxury.
“Mixed feelings”
The outside of this hotel is ordinary, the inside of this hotel is amazingly beautiful. The Desk Service acceptable but not welcoming, the room - large yes, but not sure why it was luxury deluxe!quite plain for a hotel room in such an amazing city. The bathroom small but contained, everything you might want - except a face towel, unusual in a hotel of this calibre. Breakfast was chaotic to the point that they were forgetting to ask room numbers so people were getting free breakfasts - OK for some - not so good for those who had paid 22euros. Restuarant so expensive there was no-one in it on a Sunday night when historically a lot of the restaurants in Venice close, same could be said of the bar which makes it very unwelcoming - that's if you could even find someone to serve you. Loved Venice, loved Italy but would not stay here again or recommend it to others, there are better 5* Hotels with better amenities at the same or less in cost in this beautiful city.
“Fantastic Location...”
Fantastic location in a quieter area of Venice. This claims to be a 5* hotel but isn't really what you'd expect if you'd paid full price. We booked on a cheaper deal and enjoyed the sumptuous surrounds. The room was quite small and abit tatty but spotlessly clean. The staff are rather frosty and a couple of small glasses of grappa in the bar cost the same a meal for two in a local restaurant. Take a travel kettle if you like a coffee/tea in the morning as there are no facilities in the room or pay big bucks for a coffee or breakfast. Great place to stay if you don't use the hotel for meals or extras. A very special part of Venice, lovely to explore and wander round. We were there in November and the canals flood onto the pavements and St Marks square becomes water logged...Quite a sight, so make sure your foot wear is water proof. A magical, fascinating place and this hotel is good as a base to start your journeys around Venice.
