“Nice but with problems”
Hotel is nice and in good location. Needs some work. Toilet seat didn't fit so was a bit unstable. Hot water took several minutes to get to second floor. We had early flight so up at 5a.m. and found no electric power. Walked down to the lobby and only person there was desk clerk, apologetic and nice but didn't have a flashlight. He did find a candle so we got ready and completed packing with dim candle. not easy. Had to carry luggage down three flights since no elevators.
“not impressed”
The hotel is very well situated, next to Piazza San Marco, however yhe hotel is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and it is a 3 star at the most. The breakfast room is very crowded with not much space. Rooms are small and everything inside is quiet old.
“One of the best choices in venice”
Just behind San Marco square, perfect location. Room with canal view is perfect. The gondola starting point is in front of the hotel. It is a tiny canal and a big pool like rectange. You can watch people get on /off the gondolas. you can watch them come and go. Especially when your wife/girl friend is getting ready / make up, watching them is fun. Small room yes but more than enough, nice classic furniture, nice murano chandelier, clean, good bathroom&toilet. I count my self very lucky to book this hotel. People try to reach San marco in the morning, you go outside the hotel and you are there. To reach Rialto it's just minutes of walking through a beautiful maze of tiny streets. So good hotel, perfect location. what can you ask for more?
“VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED”
We were very disappoinged by the Hotel. The room was very tiny, the wardrobe was dusty, and the amenities nonexistant. Even though it is just little off of Piazza Sam Marco, it is very difficult to find. Make sure you get your bearings on a map since amost nobody we asked knew where the street or hotel was located. If you have a lot of luggage you will have to carry it a long way from the ferry. The breakfast was also very poor and not complimentary as we expected. Really not worth the price....
“Heart of San Marco”
I chose Cavalletto for a family get together in Venice and it was actually my second choice after finding out my choice for last year was not available.I couldn't have made a better choice: it turned out to be an excellent deal in a prime location which is really important in Venice. The breath-taking view from the balcony and the courteous staff with fantastic restaurant recommendations (ask for non-touristic options) made this stay a very memorable journey for the entire family.
“Nice Hotel, Very Convenient”
The hotel was ideally situated right next to St Marks Square (St Marco). The hotel was very clean and well presented. You have to remember the age of some of these building but the hotel was in good order. Our room was not ready when we first arrived, however we did get to the hotel around noon. There are plenty of places to sight see whilst they get your room ready. I think we were very lucky with our room as we did not pay for canal view however had a corner room with excellent views of the canal. Near the hotel is Hard Rock Cafe, I know what your going to say, but its hell of a lot cheaper for food and drinks. The only negative thing I can say about Venice is the price. Food and Drink is off the scale of all reasonableness. 3 days in Venice was plenty of time, any longer would have broken the bank.
“nice stay”
nice stay, not any nicer than another hotel we stayed at for half the price, smelled stinky when we first walked in, but that goes for venice in general. Very nice location, 2min walk to St. Marks square, easy access to water bus and gondala rides. Would have been nice to have a bell hop/porter to help with luggage when we had to take the water bus at 3am. But no bell hop/porter unless we paid a ridiculous amount to wake him up. You can find just as nice hotel for way less.
“Great little hotel”
This hotel was a convienent stop on the way to our cruise ship. It is centrally located behind St. Mark's Square and there are plenty of alleyways to explore and buildings to see. The breakfast buffet is a plus for people in a hurry to get on their way in the morning, and I was especially appreciative of the free use of the Internet (must be used within 24 hours of check-in.)
“Third stay”
We have stayed here three times and have been pleased. The location is great! The rooms are clean, which is very important to me. Some rooms are larger than others. We had two nice sized rooms and one very small room at the same price. I would stay here again :)
“Underwhelmed”
Albergo Cavaletto has a great location. Next to a major gondola dock as well as the Piazza San Marco. The San Marco neighborhood is a jewel to explore during the day, but not noisy during the night. But our room was very cramped and the phone + wifi internet did not work. The phone was fixed, but the staff did not get the internet working. So we had to go down to the lobby computer and stand in line to get on. The reception desk was staffed 24 hours, but the staff were randomly polite or surly. Overall, I would give this hotel a mediocre 5 on a 1-10 scale.

Area:
San Marco, Venice, Italy: San Marco (St Marks) is quintessential visitors Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
