“Good hotel”
Excellent hotel, helpful staff, well located with private launch to near St Marks Sq.
“Fantastic stay on Guidecca island!”
I stayed at the Bauer Palladio hotel & spa with my husband and 7 yr old. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted at the dock by one of the hotel staff. We took a private water taxi and arrived from the airport to the hotel pier in about 45 minutes. We checked in with no problem and were escorted to our room. The room was huge! High ceilings, flat screen TV, double bed and a rollaway bed set up for our son. We had 2 windows with the garden view. The entire staff was extremely helpful with directions to the main island. They have a water shuttle that leaves the pier every hour to their sister hotel the Bauer Hotel and it only takes 5 minutes to cross the canal. There are also a couple of water bus lines about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Its about 6 euros and change to get to the main island where you can also transfer to the Lido and Murano islands. The restaurant was good and so was the breakfast. There are also a couple of local grocery stores past the Russina art gallery on Guidecca that sell fresh sandwhiches, beverages and toilettries and reasonable prices. The front desk will also recommend restaurants at your request. The gym is small but clean and modern. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful. The spa is expensive but very nice. I would definately recommend this over staying on Venice in the summer. The main island is crowded with tourists but you can find nice restaurants and bars on the small streets away from San Marco square.
“An experience!”
We only stayed one night but what a Hotel! The manager simon personally showed us to our room which had our own private terrace overlooking the water and a bottle of italian wine waiting for us in the room. The personalised service was the best I have ever experienced in the world. The room was immaculate and my wife and I felt at home immediatley. Will definetley be back and was well worth the price.
“perfection in venice”
The hotel was beautiful and the staff very kind, friendly & courteous. It is an ancient convent totally renovated & state of the art. The staff is very helpful in recommending things to do, places to eat. We had a potential disaster when we ran late after checking out from the hotel & needed to call to ask for help in getting our bags. The front desk was very resourceful & sent our bags in a private launch that got us to our destination in plenty of time. The hotel shuttle was efficient & offered access to town or quiet at the hotel depending on your preference. They were wonderful & we will definitely return.
“Venice Hotel”
The hotel is beautiful and service very good. The location is a bit off the path and there is little on the island that is open. There are beautiful views from the room, but only one window in the room so a little dark. The hotel does have a shuttle hourly across the lagoon and is close to the vaparetto.
“Absolutely first class”
We have stayed in many hotels throughout the world but never have we received a welcome quite like we got at the Bauer Palladio. Our bags were taken from us on arrival and taken to our room while the head receptionist introduced us to resident manager Simone, showed us around and took us personally to our room. We had a splendid canal view room which looked directly across to St Marks and with the hotel shuttle or the No 2 Vaporetto (for which we bought a 7 day pass) we could be in the centre of things in no time at all. The sheets were changed daily and the towels in the bathroom with the his and hers wash basins were changed morning and evening. Simone and his team went out of their way to be helpful often providing thoughtful extras without our bidding. One thing to draw attention to as regards arrival at the hotel. It would pay to key in the address on Google Earth and identify the building as you will not find the usual hotel signage. It is a Palladian building which was used for many years as a nunnery. Simone told us that it is subject to strict planning restrictions such as apply say to scheduled buildings in England and the authorities are doing all in their power to preserve its character - and in my opinion rightly so. If this hotel is on your shortlist, my advice is go ahead but stretching the budget to have a room with canal view will make it a very memorable stay.
“Venice Trip”
The Bauer Palladio was well worth the trip! Very easy to get to via water taxi. The accomodations were great. The staff was helpful and even provided suggestions of things to do after our walking tours were over. Breakfast was top quality. I would highly recommend this hotel.
“Luxury and service”
Best Hotel in Venice. Luxury and opulance, yet kind, welcoming and friendly.
“Wish we were still there!”
We loved it; excellent choice to book on Guidecca:.the views from the hotel (we had a lagoon view) were awesome. There were also several bars (very reasonably priced) to sit at and take in the view. The hotel is beautiful and the staff extremely helpful. We loved breakfast in the garden. Food is not outrageously expensive and we had lunch there - 12 euros for salad caprese (mozarella and tomato salad) which was enough for two for a light snack. Drinks were very expensive 10 euros for a glass of wine. 32 euros cheapest bottle 15 euros gin and tonic. But we found a good supermarket and bought a bottle of GIn and a bottle of tonic for under 5 euros! For evening meals A Il Bote on the island - sea front was excellent. The one recommended by a previous traveller Mare in the boat yard has moved to a side road near the church. DON't eat in the restaurant at the boat yard - my lobster spaghetti was aweful! I also received quite a few nasty bites - antihistimine from homeno gd but local pharmacy cream - magic!. We pre - booked a boat trip of the Gand Canal with expedia - it was excellent. Free shuttle form the hotel to Venice excellent service). Book on line for The Doge's Palace and The Bascillica if possible to miss the queues. 40 euros for a private taxi to and from Murano for a tour of the glass factory - well worth it. Booked a shuttle from the airport to the hotel - took us direct to the hotel. Excellent. Has water taxi 100 euros on way back. Expensive but worth it!
“Bauer Hotels - Well Worth the Cost”
The Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa is a gem and truly worthy of being one of the "Leading Hotels of the World". The staff is superb, very friendly, multi-lingual and always ready to help with any request. The rooms are outstanding, with the comfort and amenities one would expect from a 5 Star hotel. The hotel itself is a beautifully restored monastery with excellent facilities (Spa, Fitness, Restaurant). One of the best features is breakfast in the courtyard looking over the gardens, very peaceful and relaxing. The shuttle to San Marco Square is very convenient and makes the Bauer Palladio a great oasis away from the crowds of Venice. I can't think of one negative thing to say about the hotel, just a wonderful place to stay.
