“We go back year after year”
My favourite hotel in Venice.
“Very good hotel and good deal”
The hotel is very well located. We had a good room, the breakfast were good. I would recommend it to others.
“Don't stay here if you want a luxury hotel - massive disappointment!”
When I arrived at the hotel I could not help but be impressed by its sparkling lobby and outside terrace. That however, was were my inclination for praise ends. I was checked-in and shown - via the world's smallest lift - to a room at the back of the hotel. It was dark, dingy and had a window opening onto a grubby internal courtyard. This is pitched as a luxury hotel- it is not. As I was travelling alone they saw fit to put me in what I can only imagine is one of the worst rooms in the hotel. After asking for a room change, they accomodated my request and I moved to a room that had a window with actual daylight - a welcome relief. Having finally settled in to the small but sunlit room I perused the list of services on offer. Access to other hotels in the 'Bauer' family were promised, including a rooftop jacuzzi and balcony at the hotel just next door. However, having enquired with the hotel desk as to whether I could start my trip with a visit to said terrace, I was met with what was to become a familar phrase 'its only open to Palazzo guests'. The hotel staff were staunchly determined to be as un friendly as possible, the room massively disappointing and the facilties were a huge let down. This is an expensive hotel and was not even close to being value for money. I would not stay here again , I would not recommend it to a friend or a worst enemy for that matter...
“You pay for the location”
Every thing you would expect from a 5 star hotel, with the added attraction of being able to breakfast overlooking grand canal. However the breakfast wasnot 5 star. Poor choice of cereals, no hot rolls, no fresh fruit Concierge very helpful.Location very convenient. Our room was rather gloomy. For twice the price you can book Palazzo rooms with views. Minibar water costs €7, gin €15.
“Would love to go back there as soon as possible!!”
We were in Venice for several days before our cruise and stayed at another hotel for the first few days. But you can not beat this location. It is a shopper's paradise and a quick walk to St. Mark's Square, where it is all happening. The staff were courteous and Marco at the front desk is terrific. I did not eat there as it is really pricey, but there are many surrounding restaurants. A nice walk to the Rialto bridge where there is lively action and many restaurants. I would highly recommend anyone to stay there.
“great hotel”
central location in venice, good breakfast, very comfortable accommodation.
“Ideal in every way”
The service, standard and location of this hotel exceeded all expectations. The quiestest hotel room we have ever stayed in, not a single disturbance from corridor noise or adjoining rooms. Extremely comfortable, good size for a standard room (was expecting much smaller being so central to Venice), superbly powerful shower. General ambience of hotel condusive to a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Buffet breakfast very satisfying especially if the weather allows it to be taken on the canal side terrace.
“What Service!!”
An amazing hotel! It was in the perfect area with maybe a 30 second walk to Saint Mark's square! Very beautiful hotel, very clean and comfortable! The service was great with every request and it was the first time we experienced a turn down service. Every night when we would return to our room the sheets had been turned down and the blinds closed and the room tidied again, it was great! You eat breakfast right on the water which is just beautiful. Be aware that the rooms do not overlook the water! We booked a panoramic view room and had a view of rooftops and a bit of the lagoon in the distance! Overall the hotel was perfect!!! They even provided breakfast in our room at 5am since we were leaving before the buffet breakfast started! Very good service!!
“Great Location”
Excellent location, I stay before and after a cruise, and its about 2 min walk distance from plaza san marcos, the only thing is that although I pay for the same room, on my first stay it was smaller than my second stay. Either way its a very good option. Be aware that you will need to get a water taxi or vaporeto so your taxi fair could go from 60 to 100 euros.
“Great Location - Highly recommend”
This was our first trip to Rome and the Bauer was a big part of why it was fantastic. I'll break it down. Location was great: easy walk to shop, great restaurants and metro. Room: Rather small, lack of dresser. the room had an "old" smell to it. However,we got used to it quickly. ,,no issues. Be aware it is the law that Hotels cannot supply irons. Service: Was great! Whether it was the front desk for directions to the servers at breakfast. Breakfast was awesome: Quiche, yogurt, cereal, danish, muffins, croisants, fruit, eggs, bacon.. Have a complimentary buffet from 5-8 was great. it reduced our dinner costs by half because we ate so much each nigth. all in all, this was a surprisingly small hotel, however, the location, service and buffets made up the difference.

San Marco, Venice, Italy: San Marco (St Marks) is quintessential visitors Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doges Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.
