Small property, with decent size rooms. Hotel is safe and secure and easy route to local transport. Someone was always on hand to help if needed. 20minute walk to train station where could go into the centre of Venice or venture further a field. Room was well presented and cleaned to an expected standard. Would recommend hotel if on a budget.

Never again... most Terrible hotel experience
First of all, specific conditions like limited time reception and check-in as well as absence of an elevator should be bold and clearly displayed. In this case the condition of checking in before 10 pm was discovered after the booking. Hence while driving on the highway we searched for the hotel number and called to ask for a late check in. They said it would cost we extra 29 euros. So I sent a local friend my passport copies to check us in. He got the keys and gave these to us at a restaurant before we reached the hotel. Still, when we reached the place it was locked and we had to call the reception again. in response Me Omer came from inside and opened the lock. He demanded the extra payment without which he would not allow us in. As was true I told him that check in was before 10 pm and gifts can always go out for food or something else after checking-in. Due to the extra 29 euros the price became much higher then a better quality place. Most of all it was his terrible attitude that was due to not only his nature but also due to his dislike for people of my country. Then at the age of 65 I had to carry all the luggage up two floors. In the morning also the same person had such a terrible expression on his face and that seemed to say "the devil May care for all I'm concerned." It was the most terrible hotel experience of my life. Any self-respecting person should stay away from this hotel. After that I am more aware for the future. No more cheap hotels.

It was your complete fault here that you paid 20 for checking in after 12pm. It is given in the policy that if you check in after 10pm you have to pay an extra 20 which you should have seen when making a booking. . And your behavior was very bad. A man can't treat a man like that, you did to me come here at night and leave in the morning. But you are giving wrong information and I misbehaved with your name.

Nice little place.
Nice small little place. Family owned. Stuff was very helpful. We could the luggage even after the checkout time there with the reception. Very convenient to the train and bus stop helpful staff.

The staff are the sweetest!! Everyone so far has been so helpful and very good English!! The hotel is in the middle of block with lots of parking on the street. We stayed here and got on the 6L bus to Venus for the day. It was so easy and cheap to do. If they put in breakfast in the morning they could charge double!! Overall best affordable place we have stayed .

Great little hotel near Venice!
The service was amazing! We showed up half an hour after they were closed (we had no idea hotels closed) and thankfully the front desk person was still there to let us in! The room was nice, but the beds were very firm and uncomfortable.

It was Venice to be there
The couple who owns the hotel was very nice and helpful. I liked the amenities that came with our room and it was great that we could buy bus tickets at face value from the hotel owners. The bus stop to take the bus to Venice was about a 2-3 minute walk and altogether about a half hour ride to the touristy area from the hotel!

Affordable base to explore Venice
This is a clean basic hotel not in Mestre city center. There is a convenient bus to Venice that stops near the hotel every 20 minutes, and takes 20 minutes to near Venice train station. We bought bus tickets at the hotel, which was extremely convenient (as tickets are not sold on the bus). Street parking is available and there is a good pizza restaurant nearby.

Simple hotel with clean rooms and excellent customer service. Located around the corner from bus and metro stop to the main island of Venice. Walls were thin so we could hear neighbors’ conversations and television. Overall a pleasant stay for someone traveling on a budget.

Locked out of my room. No night service. Manager comes At 7 am . We get to airport to late and miss flight. Have to pay extra $1500 per person for new 1 way ticket. If hotel had night service we could have made our original flight in time and I could save $4000.00 Worst Hotel in the worst city in Italy.

Good morning, in the booking it was written that the Hotel closes at 23.00 and reopens at 07.00. The night service was until 04.00. We had advised you to keep the keys always with you. The elderly person did not follow the directions provided by the Hotel. If I have to tell the truth it was very rude and pretentious and despotic. We have tried to satisfy him in every way, evidently it was not enough. Let's just say that the ladies who were together left the elderly person in storage in the lobby of the hotel where he coughed up and more, and they went to Venice. We are a 1 star hotel not 5stelle and the gentleman Venice saw very little and when he made the reservation it was clear what he was offering, if he wanted luxury he could go to the Cipriani in Venice. Our Hotel has a very high review and certainly given the reviews, this person's comment is not true.

This hotel is a great deal! Low prices for a clean, comfortable hotel with superb service. The bus into Venice is atound the corner and you can buy your ticket in the reception. Definitely recommend staying here.

Basic hotel with misleading photos
Photo of exterior is a bit misleading as shop was never open. Very basic, good If you just need somewhere to sleep. I knew it wasn’t going to live up to expectations so wasn’t expecting much. The owners were pleasant. It’s about 40eros via taxi to Venice or you can get a bus which seems to be very cramped and hot. Vending machines available. Not got much to say on this hotel just it’s very basic, sometimes had hot water for shower but mostly the water was freezing cold. Think I got bit more in the hotel than outside and air conditioner in my room was awful but was good in the other room we booked. I booked 2 rooms with no balcony though there were rooms with them , felt like we were just given the basic rooms. A bit disappointing.

Good morning, we are sorry that you are the only customers dissatisfied, the hot water just turn the tap and goes out always. The air conditioning could control it in the room and if you wanted you could choose the cooler temperature up to bring it to 0 degrees. We gave you the opportunity to buy tickets for the bus in Hotel but you did not want and you requested categorically a taxi. We are sorry and we extend our best regards.

A very nice hotel with nicely updated rooms and bathrooms. The owners, Marina and Nerio, were very helpful with the bus schedule, bus stop locations (a 2 minute walk from the hotel) and restaurants. We would stay in the hotel without hesitation if we were to visit Venice again.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH THAT THING CALLED "HOTEL"
we never stayed in the place, I selected that place because I saw look nice, we came to europe for vacation, specially Venice, I rented a car, unfortunately I have a problem with that car, flat tire in the expressway, more of four hour until get fixed, in the meantime we called from my usa cell, used a international call, we called to the hotel to let them know, we'll be there late, around 7 pm, there never, NEVER answer the phone, well, we thought the hotel is already paid, after the car tire has been fixed, we continue drove to there, we arrived around 1am in the morning, everything was closed, NO BODY was shows up, I knock the door for more half hour, no body, until someone shows up by the window, so very nasty guy, I explained what happened to us, the do not even understand english, not even italian, I do not what can languaje he was, look like he was upset because I knock his door to many times, was unbelievable all that happened to us, I called from Italy to hotel.com on USA, try to help me, but these people do not how to resolve this kind of situations. I have to find another hotel 2 o 3 in the morning, spend more money for that, I was tire, angry, disappointed, finally found it some place to stayed, next day because my wife told me to do it, we went back to the place, diferent people was in the counter, they apologized for that, we tried get our money back, we paid for two nights, all went to garbage, I don't get nothing back, hotels.com not help us about that, to bad

Buongiorno, abbiamo controllato tutto, NON sono arrivate email e telefonate. Il check in termina alle ore 22,00. Siamo spiacenti ma il responsabile ha aspettato fino alle ore 02,00am. Non è arrivato nessuno.. Al mattino arrivati ore 11,45am proposto di alloggiare anche un giorno in più non hanno accettato. Sono andati via, siamo spiacenti per l'accaduto ma qualcosa non dipendente dal noi non ha funzionato e così non siamo stati avvisati per tempo. Cordiali saluti.

Cheap and cheerful.
Hotel was basic, but enough for a couple of nights. Staff were super friendly and very helpful. It was really close to the tram stop which had regular buses and trams that go straight through to main Venice centre.

Nice family run hotel, close to the Mestre station (10 minute tram ride or 20 min walk) and Venice (20 min bus ride). Neighborhood is quiet and safe.

A charming little family hotel
If you're looking for an affordable hotel close to Venice, this is what you're looking for. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We parked our car in the backyard of the hotel and there was free parking on the street. There's no breakfast but there's a supermarket 10 minutes from the hotel. The owners are very friendly even though they speak only a bit of English.

Nice hotel, few amenities, far
Nice hotel with minimum amenities. Bit farther away from he main Mestre station so you either walk 35 minutes through dark neighbourhoods, or try to figure out the bus system and pay twice the normal price to buy a ticket onboard a bus. Not their fault, but the long walk away from Mestre wasn't convenient. Staff were very friendly and polite although they barely spoke English so it was hard to get information and figure things out. They did try hard and were very very nice and helpful as much as they could be with the language barrier. He older gentleman in the lobby (I'm assuming the father of the manager?) was very nice and sweet, spoke not a single word of English but opened doors for us and was very kind. The shower water heater was slow so the temperature fluctuated a lot. Easier to just have a cold shower.

Enjoyable stay. Highly recommendable.
Decent hotel managed by husband and wife team. Fairly priced in the area and walking distance to the bus and tram stop going to the train station and Venice. Nice restaurant close by. Very hospitable couple and always willing to help guests Wifi is excellent. Stayed here for 3 nights and highly recommendable.

Good hotel for the price
Remembering that Venice is pretty expensive, this is good for the price. The hotel staff was as helpful as they could be given their limited English skills, and the guy at the front desk carried our luggage up the stairs because there was no elevator. The hotel facilities seem to be a bit old - the shower door often got stuck, and we were without hot water for a day because of a glitch with their heater. But again, the staff was helpful as soon as we were able to communicate the problem to them. The double bed in the room was two twin beds pushed together, which meant there was a valley in the middle of the "double bed", and any time we rolled into the valley the two beds pushed farther apart.

Wonderful friendly manager, nice room, very good location to reach Venezia island, because there is a tram/bus stop right there by the hotel and the manager can sell you tickets. Highly satisfied.

Nice, simple hotel
We enjoyed our stay at hotel Amba Alagi. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to a busstop making it easy to get to Venice. Around the corner you can find a very nice Italian restaurant.

Hotel closed on arrival - no room for the night.
The stay was completely spoiled before we even arrived. Our flight into Venice was delayed so we informed the hotel that we'd be arriving late and gave them the time that we would get there. We turn up at 12.30 to find the hotel locked up with no one there. We tried calling but no one answered even though we could hear the phone ringing from outside. We were forced to look for somewhere else to sleep at 1am in a country we've never been to before and pay for a night in another hotel. We finally got into the hotel the following day, the room was ok but the cleaners start hoovering all of the rooms and hall everyday around 9.30. This goes on until around 11. We contacted hotels.com after our visit to discuss the possibility of a refund for the night that we couldn't stay in the hotel, the hotel insisted that they stayed up until 2am waiting for us but we didn't arrive. When I presented evidence that we'd arrived at 12.30 the hotel didn't respond to queries. It's been two months and we still haven't heard back from them.
