“Great hotel in a great location”
We stayed her 6 nights in October, visiting our daughter at Avignon University. Hotel is comfortable and very well located. We did not eat in the hotel because of the huge amount of cafes and rstauarants within easy walking distance of the hotel. 2 minutes walk to the shuttle bus for the TGV station (1 euro 20) 5 minutes walk to central station which will take you to Lyon, Marseille, Arles, Nimes etc. 10 minutes walk to the main square and the Palais des Papes. Avignon is a beautiful walled city, well worth visiting.
“Good Value”
The location was excellent, the rooms clean and the staff verry helpful. Being inside the old city walls was a real plus. As with many older European hotels, the rooms were small, you couldn't really relax in them, they were for sleeping! There was no English Language TV in the rooms, there was downstairs in their sitting room. The parking was a plus, the breakfast a minus. The staff could not be more helpful, they were great and all spoke excellent English. Overall the facilities were good value for the price. I would go there again.
“Convenient location short walk to Avignon Centre train station”
Avignon was one of our favorite stops. The Bristol is very conveniently located especially if you are traveling by train
“Excellent hotel for Avignon visit”
The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet. It is well situated for walking to the sites in Avignon and for taking the bus or train to other towns in the area. The staff were pleasant and made helpful suggestions for sightseeing. We appreciated the lavender scented toiletries in the shower and bathtub areas. Our overall satisfaction with the hotel is rated as 4.5 stars, not 4.
“BAD BED BUG PROBLEM”
We had two rooms end of July. My wife notice a small blood stain on bed sheet when we arrived. I found a BED BUG each morning for three days straight. First ever experience with bed bug in a hotel. I wore full pajama with socks and flipped up my collar when I slept. We had limited option. It was the annual Avignon Film Festival. All were booked up. We tried to kept to ourselves as our daughter was next room over. BED BUG problem has to be fully sanitized before you leave as it can be bought home with eggs. Internet was so spotty, had to log in at lobby only. THEY NEED TO FULLY EXTERMINATE THE PLACE AND ANNOUNCE IT.
“Great staff , great location, bad bed and tired room”
For the price of the hotel I was expecting something a little bit older and tired and that's what we got. The room was clean, the staff were great, the location ideal. My big problem was with the bed. I called it concrete with springs. That would be my only reason for not coming back. Thanks to Phillipe and Silvia who helped us out alot!
“Critical”
Very conveniently situated. Be careful though; breakfast is not included in the room rate and it was not made explicit on arrival.
“Wine Tour”
The staff at Bristol was very nice and helpfull. The only problem during our trip to Provence was the railroad workers strike. Everything else was perfect in Avignon.
“Room nicer than facade might imply”
The facade of the hotel was nothing flash but this belied the quality of the rooms which had obviously been refurbished in recent years. It was also great to be wheeling distance from the central rail station and the but to the TGV station.
“Good overall hotel”
Very much enjoyed our stay at the Bristol Hotel. The staff were helpful and spoke good English. The room was clean and seemed to have been refurbished in the past year or two. The air conditioning was indispensable given that it was sometimes 25 or 30 degrees at night. And even though our room overlooked a busy bar, the windows were excellently sound-proofed so we heard nothing.
