“A truly Grand hotel.”

Golden Sands is Bulgaria Del Brava. The coast is a long stretch of ugly modern hotels but in the midst of this is the oasis of the splendid Melia Grand Hermitage. For sun and luxury it is difficult to improve on the Melia at Golden Sands. The hotel is set back from the beach with spectacular views over the Black Sea. The route to the beach is a grand flight of steps - if you want to drag yourself away from the hotel's giant swimming pool.

Area recommendations

There is not much to separate the area adjacent to the hotel and the areas each side. I would suggest splitting time between the sunny beach at Golden Sands and the historic villages of Sosopol and Nessebar.

When to go

September/October. Milder climate (still plenty of sunshine) and fewer tourists.

“Not Impressed”

The Hotel is rated as 5 star, but doesn't compare to some of the 5 stars I've stayed in. The scale of the place makes it impossible to give a 5 star offering. Breakfast was a battle with 1500 people at a time and the food was unimaginative. The outside pool didn't seem to be heated. Overall it would do well as a 3 star from my perspective.

“En perle på Golden Sands Beach.”

Dette er et flott sted!!! Ligger praktfullt til, 300 m fra stranden, ingen hoteller ligger til selve stranden Store bassenger, to poolbars, tilrettelagt for barn. Store værelser, særlig de med oceanview, en god investering. Alle fasciliteter på værelsene, helt topp, og særlig for prisen. Restauranter/barer i overflod langs strandpromenaden like nedenfor. Ingen støy...utenom den hotellet selv produserer ved utendørs parties. Var der tidlig september, utenom høysesong, mellom 25 og 30 grader, 21 i vannet. Men hotellet er svært stort, det er nok et hav av mennesker der i juli og august, det er høysesongen, men bassengområdet var også stort. Og på strendene er det god plass ser det ut til. De fleste hoteller der er svært store, men ligger ikke alltid heldig til. Det gjør dette hotellet derimot. Svært bra, og jeg har bodd maaaaange steder verden over. Jeg var svært positivt overrasket.

“Besser als die meisten Touristenburgen in der Nähe”

Schaut man sich die anderen Hotels am Goldstand an, so gehört das Melia definitiv zu den besseren. Die Zimmer sind groß und schön eingerichtet, die Sauberkeit stimmt und auch der Pool und das Restaurant können sich sehen lassen. Allerdings ist das Hotel sehr groß und häufig herrscht doch wieder Massenbetrieb, z.B. beim Frühstück. Ein "echtes" 5-Sterne-Hotel fühlt sich anders an.

Allein der anderen Gäste wegen sollte das Hotel 2 Sterne verlieren. Das Essen am Buffet war furchtbar und der Service größtenteils ignorant.

“Hotel de qualité pour un séjour à une stataion de voyage de masse”

les prestations de l'hôtel sont de qualité (chambre de luxe spacieuse, par contre la douche fuit et c'est le pataugeoire, la salle de restauration est trop petite pour un nombre de clients impressionnants), il y a quelques bémol : la piscine est trop petite pour le nombre de clients admis, elle est pas très propre et des fois ça sent mauvais, la plage est à plus de 100m et ne dépend pas de l'hôtel du coup il faut louer parasol transat et ainsi de suite et c'est pas indiqué dans le descriptif !!!!il y a beaucoup de famille et du coup c'est pas un séjour de calme pour un couple sans enfant!

“laut, teuer, Massenabfertigung”

5 Sterne hat das Hotel? Hier muss man schon sehr großzügig sein. Es geht schon damit los, dass man 0 Information auf den Zimmern findet. Kein Hotelplan, keine Essenszeiten, etc., nur ein paar lieb- und informationslose Prospekte über das Restaurant und dem "Wellnessbereich. Ich hatte Meerblick gebucht und auch bekommen. Obendrein aber auch noch hübsch lautes Pool- und Animationsgekreische, da die kleinen, dunklen Balkone direkt auf diese Erlebniswelt zeigen. Durch die 3-seitige Bauweise hat man auch einen schönen Blick in jeden anderen Balkon (und umgekehrt natürlich). Abends konnte man die Balkontür überhaupt nicht offen halten, außer man wollte durch Karaoke Gesang wach gehalten werden. Das Frühstück (am 1. Tag wurden wir vor dem Speisesaal auf Warteposition gestellt, da zu viele Gäste frühstücken wollten) war erstaunlich einfallslos. Viel Ei, viel einfache Früchte und viel Gebäck welches alles gleich schmeckte. Es gibt auch nur im Zeitfenster von 2 Std. (von 08:00 - 10:00) Frühstück, was zur Folge hat, dass es jeden Tag sehr voll, heiß und laut im Saale ist. Zimmer werden nur sehr mäßig gereinigt, z.B. wurde der sandige Balkon nur auf Aufforderung gefegt. Die größte Unverschämtheit ist der Roomservice. American Breakfast für 35 Leva: Ein Haufen kalte Rühreisoße, viel kalter Speck, fast noch rohe und kalte Würstchen, einige trockene Croissants und andere nicht definierbare Teilchen. Von allem viel und alles grandios "igitt". Alles in allem: Zu teuer, zu laut, zu schmutzig

Traveller's tip

dieses Hotel nicht buchen, viel zu teuer für diese Leistung. Tipp: Einfach die paar Treppen runter zum Strand und dort für wenig Geld einen Stuhl mieten und sich von netten jungen Leuten Getränke und Essen servieren lassen.
