“Convenient North Van hotel”
This hotel was surprisingly comfortable, quiet, and convenient. And the price was right! The room was well appointed with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was not as nice as the room and the towels were thin. The staff was very efficient, friendly, and nice. I stayed two nights and found the location perfect for getting to Whistler, around North Van, or back into downtown Vancouver.
“Someone's toothbrush in my shower...no hand soap”
I was quite dis-appointed. I knew this was an older hotel, but should have been a hidden jewel. The front desk personnel are in such a poor position...low, off-center, and in cramped quarters, they almost make you feel like you are a bother. The stairways need work, as does day to day cleaning. I felt the need to stand on a hand towel in the shower, because of the built up dirt. As my heading says...toothbrush found in the shower area, no had soap in room, and to top it off, the bath towels are almost see-through. Unfortunately, this hotel is close to a fantastic park, and a great older bridge. Too bad current construction has made it feel as if "it'll pass" good enough
“Nice litte lodge close to Stanley Park”
This is a nice little hotel close to the north end of Stanley Park. Rooms are o.k. and clean but (all?) have a connecting door to the next room. Therefore it depends on your neighbors if your room os quiet or not. WiFi available. Vietnamese noodle restaurant and "Denny´s" close by.
“regular maintenance and cleaning required”
The remote for the tv needed batteries or reprogramming. When we called the desk they sent a maintenance guy who came in with dirty gloves on to fix the remote. after he left we did not want to touch the remote. The room just did not look clean. This would not be my hotel of choice.
“good value”
Good, clean room. Quiet. Parking was fine. Would stay here again.
“Good Sleep”
After Hiking the Grouse Grind... It was the perfect place to crash for the night!... Not to mention Denny's right next door come the Morning. With an extra 20% at Denny's for staying at the Travelodge!!
“nice and quiet”
Room was comfortable, clean and area was quiet. would stay there again.
“Not impressed - expected better for price paid”
I expected a better standard from a Travelodge. The bathroom was tiny and the room was cramped and dark. The sheets were covered with hair and the room was not hoovered properly - food beside the bed on the floor. Not what I call value for money!
“Good place for those who sleep in”
Room was decent, had a comfortable bed and clean sheets. Requested a refrigerator and microwave, but the request was not honoured, possibly due to the low price. The washroom was not exactly great. The counter, sink, and toilet were okay, but the floor and shower stall looked like they could use some freshening up. The grout between the floor tiles looked bad. My feet itched whenever I got out of the shower; shower shoes would probably solve that. Location is great if you plan to be anywhere but downtown Vancouver most of the time. Yes, it is right across the Lions Gate bridge, but that bridge is unpredictable in terms of traffic. Most times the bridge is configured with one lane going into Vancouver; be prepared for horrendous traffic, especially during rush hour. Other than that, the drive across Lions Gate is wonderful and once you get into Vancouver, you can easily get where you need to go. As for getting into/out of/around the suburbs from this location, it's rarely a problem. Big plus: the housekeeping personnel are VERY good at checking to make sure the room is serviced while you are gone, regardless of what time you leave. I used the "Do not disturb" sign while in the room and was not bothered in the morning hours (I slept in EVERYDAY). I removed the sign upon leaving (AFTER 1:00PM most days). When I came back, my room was cleaned and my bed was made. An awesomely pleasant surprise. Overall, good place for the money, especially if you like to sleep in.
“Will not return”
After checking in, we found the bathroom ceiling was leaking from the room above. There was a bucket on the side of the tub collecting water! The ceiling looked as if it could cave in on someone taking a shower. The bed looked unmade or as if someone had recently used it. I went to the desk to complain about the condition and they gave us another room. The second room looked identical without the bucket and ceiling damage but it offered a cheesy and dirty looking built in wall stall shower instead of a tub. There were remains of old coffee in the bathroom sink! The bed again looked unmade and slept-in. Instead of complaining again, we just took the room and swore we would never come back. We contacted Travelodge after our experience as well. Avoid this business. For the price of the room we got, I have gotten much better rooms at 2 local hotels within 1/4 mile of this business. This was the worst hotel I have stayed at in Vancouver since I have been visiting over the past 5 years!
