“Not overly impressed”

Hotel is good if you need a place for a night stay on the way to somewhere else. Van Horn is not a destination stop. Continental breakfast was ok, nothing fancy. There was a great steak house down the street called Van Horn Cattle Company (I think!!). The food and service were outstanding. Highlight of the whole stay.

“Not bad for some place in the middle of nowhere”

This hotel is badly in need of updating, but it was clean and met our needs for an overnight stay after a long drive across Texas. It is also pet friendly.

“End of an era”

The Room was very clean but room and hotel were very dated and empty. We were greeted nicely. We did not use the breakfast, so cannot comment on that.

Area recommendations

This hotel was at the end of the main road, across from a Dollar General. I think that a hotel that was closer to the main part of town would be better.

“Average Hotel with some issues”

This hotel was an average place to stay right off a major highway. We got to our room and noticed there was a back door leading out to the pool area/garden area. That door had 2 locks, both unlocked - kinda creeped us out since it was about 11pm when we checked in. After that we noticed the phone was completely dead, no ring tone and its cable wire ran to the back of the bed which was too big to move to see if it was actually plugged in. Hair dryer also did not work. Other than that we liked the mini fridge and microwave it came with - we used both with no problem. Free breakfast was not all that - ice cold scrambled eggs and warm milk...toast was good as was the waffles and muffins/danish items.

“Great Value”

Great value for the money. They offer a "Continental Breakfast" but it included waffles, eggs and other items not usually associated with a "Continental Breakfast". Close to the highway yet relatively quiet. If you stay here Chuey's Restaurant is a great place to eat.

“Good overnight stopping place”

Van Horn is in the middle of nowhere, but geographically situated for overnight stay between Arizona and Dallas, TX

They roll up the sidewalks at 8:00 PM in Van Horn. No place for late-night dining except Subway.

“Better than Expected”

The motel is definitely old, but very clean. The room was large and comfortable and included a fridge, microwave, and free wifi. The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed (with only one person to serve) and confirmed that we wanted a king and then gave us a room with two doubles anyway, which we didn't discover until we got to the room. I went back to explain the mistake and she seemed surprise that we wanted to switch rooms. We were there Memorial Day weekend and there was no water in the pool. In spite of the staff and pool, we were very happy with our stay. You can't beat the amenities for the price!
