We needed a hotel near Hedehusene. The Scandic Roskilde is, maybe, 5 miles away. We booked it from Good Friday to Easter Monday (three nights) and it cost only £187 for my wife and me.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a typical continental buffet with lots of choice - excellent bread, clever cheese slicers (!), make-your-own muesli. Also hot food - bacon, egg, tomatoes.
Only problem we had was the restaurant was closed due to Easter. We ate at Jensens Bofhus in Roskilde which I can recommend.
Also visit Restaurant Zeleste in Copenhagen - a hidden gem.
The hotel is clean, modern and in a rural location a considerable way outside of Roskilde. Despite what the website might say, it's not very near the Viking Boat Museum unless you have transport. Taxi's from the town are expensive. However, we had a room overlooking the fjord which had beautiful views, which made up for the challenge of getting to the hotel.
A well run hotel with friendly, english speaking, staff. The room was of similar design and size to a Premier Inn or Travelodge room. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm. The bathroom was clean and in good condition with loads of hot water. Tea/coffee making facilities were available foc from the reception, and there is a comfortable seating area on the first floor, with windows overlooking a small boatyard - ideal for evening coffee with friends. Breakfast was good with some hot food (boiled eggs, bacon, scrambled eggs) a selection of cereals, yogurts, danish pastries, all types of bread with jams, cheese, sliced meats etc.. There is a restaurant open mon to sat evenings. We did not eat there, but from what we saw the food looked good. Price wise it appeared to be in line with other Danish restaurants - in the region of £10 for a starter, £20-25 for a main course, and about £10 for a desert. There is a free carpark at the back of the hotel.

The hotel was within walking distance of all places of interest, cathedral, museum, train station. Our room was lovely with a quiet courtyard view. The buffet breakfast was good. We had a wonderful time chatting to fellow travellers over breakfast.
