“Going downhill”

Have to visit Utrecht twice a year for trade fair and usually stay at the Park Plaza or nearby NL. Not usually much difference in the standards but on this visit I felt that the Park Plaza is starting to go downhill in comparison to NL. Carpets and tiles were shabby and marked and you could smell cigarettes. Last time we booked a supeior we got a proper coffee machine which was missing this time and you only get offered dried creamer. On the upside we had a decent breakfast and the breakfast staff were very lovely.

Area recommendations

If you get a chance take an excursion to Venlo to taste some unusual local beers and enjoy the independent shops.

“BEST BREAKFAST EVER AT HOTEL”

“Good hotel”

I was given a room on the 6th floor with a shower bath-room, but the shower was not covered with a full cubicle, so the water from the shower exited the shower box and wet the floor of all bath-room. It was the strangest shower-box design I have ever had. On my second day there, I did not want anybody (including the hotel-maid) to enter my room, so I put the sign "Do not disturb" on my door-handle outside. Then, I left my room to have a meeting with my colleagues. Several hours later, I returned to my room and I found that the hotel-maid had entered my room, despite the sign "Do not disturb", and tidied up my bed. I was horrified because I left my jewelries outside the safe-deposit box. Luckily, all my jewelries were safe. I just wondered, why the hotel-maid ignored the sign "Do not disturb" that I hang on the door-handle outside.

“would definitely go back”

the location is great literally only 5 minutes from utrecht central station, friendy staff and great food on the room service menu.

Area recommendations

utrecht city centre is large we spent the whole day wandering around, the main cathedral is a beautiful sight, and everyone is freindly.

Getting there

its around half an hour from schipol airport by train.

Shopping

shopping is good although most shops are closed on sunday and don't open till 1300 monday and 1000am every other day.

“Comfortable, friendly stay in Utrecht”

Located next to central station in Utrecht, Park Plaza is not that big a hotel and I found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful on 4 visits.

Area recommendations

lively Oudegracht - old canal area - has the best restaurants - Oudaen has a great bier keller atmosphere.

“Good Utrecht Hotel”

“Good Hotel for Business travel”

I used the hotel in early August with a couple of work colleagues. It's a pretty standard hotel within the category, however i would highlight the friendly and efficient attitude of the staff, which was excellent. Having read the reviews, we specifically asked about the breakfast offering and were informed that in addition to the full breakfast buffet, they also offered a choice of 3 set breakfasts, each priced below €10. These were good value, and if their introduction came about as a response to the earlier comments in the reviews, they i say a resounding "congratulations" to this hotel for listening to the comments and responding to them.

“Good”

Have been to this hotel previously, this was my second stay. Overall the room was clean although it as disappointing that for a 4 start hotel, the desk and phone etc were dusty. When I requested for an iron, it arrived at reasonable time, though the spray function for the iron was detached, so can' be used. The iron was usable although it should be fully functional especially for a 4 start hotel. One bathroom light was blown but lighting was manageable, the toilet roll holder appeared slightly detached from the wall. Oerall maintenance was not the best but comfot and location was execellent. Hotel was very close to the train station, although very close to the railtrack, no noise was heard, I think partly due to the well sealed windows and the quiet trains that Holland has. Although windows were well sealed, ventilation was not a problem.

Area recommendations

As it was really convenient to the train station, we traveled to Amsterdam, which was 30mins away. From there, we did a North and South tour by coach where we visited the cheese, cloggs, Delft pottery factory, Dan Haag and the miniature village. It's a whole day trip, but it is worth it.
