“Good location, friendly...but a few issues”
I have stayed at the Appolo 3 times now, as I visit Utrecht twice a year for the record fair. It ends up being cheaper than staying at the NH or Plaza. On previous occasions I was upgraded free of charge to the superior room (well with balcony), but this time I was told I had to pay for the privilege. The rooms are fine though, modern and clean, but it means going down stairs, walking along a long corrider before taking a lift up a couple of floors, to somehow end up on the 7th floor? Confusing, but OK... I satyed three nights and although the room was cleaned to a good standard, no one replaced or cleaned the tea cups and I had to bring this to the attention of reception. The Internet/TV package is expensive and I had to go for a week package as the only free English channel was BBC2! So paid the extra to watch BBC1. A week deal for free wifi and all channels is €34.50 for a week, which would be a good deal if you do stay 1 week, but not so good for three nights. All in all, I will probably stay there again, as the room was OK and the staff friendly, but will be doing a price check with the NHR and Plaza
“good and convenient town centre hotel”
Clean, comfortable, friendly service. Breakfast too expensive (18 eur) -lots of bakeries/cafes nearby for a cheaper breakfast
“Good central location”
The central location is ideal if you are spending time in Utrecht or need to go somewhere by rail. Everywhere is easily accessible - market, shopping centre station, old canals, restaurants and bars. Hotel has a coffee lounge with free coffee and internet which was a bonus. Rather a rambling hotel with lots of stairways (and lifts) and room service was OK except they didn't wash the cups! Beware of accidentally paying for TV services when playing with the remote! However, the hotel was very clean, the rooms were a good size and we would be very happy to use it again.
“Centrally located hotel”
I have stayed at other hotels in Utrecht on business but the Apollo is definintely in the best location if you are on holiday. It is a couple of minutes walk from the main canal where you will find bars, restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay at the Apollo again when I return to Utrecht. The staff are friendly and helpful.
“Intersection of Location & Value”
I have been to the beautiful and relatively un-touristy city of Utrecht on four occasions, and will never stay anywhere else. This is on the side of Utrecht Centraal Station leading into the scenic old part of the city, and is right on the edge of that old part, in the middle of shopping and quite near the canals. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the stay is comfortable, and the shower/bath in everything but the cheapest rooms is surprisingly strong and well-appointed. By no means is it a full-service hotel & spa, but it puts you right where you want to be for access to restaurants, bars, scenic walks and bike rides, etc.
“Utrecht business trip”
Very nice hotel right downtown. Note that you will be charged city tax daily on top of your reservation costs and meals are not included. A breakfast buffet is available for cost of $18 euros daily or there are restaurants nearby. Rooms are clean and bedding is nice. Internet is available at an additional charge and although says for 24 hrs it ends at noon the next day despite when you sign up for it. (ended up paying for 24 hrs for 1 hr of use!)
“Good location without a car”
Good location for walking to canal and restaurants but on a pedestrian only street with no place for car to stop or park. Must use Public Parking garage and tote your own luggage to hotel. Room was average in quality and amenities. No carpeting. Single tiny elevator. Breakfast Buffet was very good for the price. Hotel price OK for heart of city.
“Exceeded expectations”
I wasn't expecting much since I made a last minute booking but I was very pleased and satisfied with the hotel. Location is excellent and the staff were super helpful. My room was very cool with a great mural and very very clean. The only disadvantage was that the room was near the exit stairs and people kept banging the door of the stairs starting early in the morning. But other than that I loved the place.
“Not impressed”
Room was dirty
“clean and reasonably priced and very central”
This was our fifth visit and this centrally located hotel very near the station is always a treat. The rooms are small but clean and the furnishings are new. No airco in our room but you can pay 25 euros for an upgrade if needed or a fan is supplied for free. No fridge but coffee making in room or make use of free coffee and tea in the lounge area. Staff helpful and friendly.
