“Good except for pool”

In general quite good, except for the pool area. There was absolutely no service in that area, not even to provide you with towels. Pool is very small and the room was cold.

“tryp hotel”

very good hotel. Not very big but good staff and good breakfast buffet. Very small swimming pool (look more to a bath room indeed). Very large bedrooms. only one room with a view on the golf so ask to book it. (better view than the others, with a view on a dirty building). parking for cars under the hotel. charming staff.

“Fine, though slighly expensive, option in Montevideo”

My room was clean, tidy, and of a reasonably good size, although a bit sterile and without any distinct personality. The neighborhood is one of the best in Montevideo, but this is not the place to stay if you want to be in close proximity to old city and center (about a 30-45 minute walk). The breakfast was adequate, although I did think it could have been a bit more extensive given that the hotel is more expensive than most I had been considering. Staff attention was prompt and excellent, with one exception: I was a little annoyed by the fact that maid service came to my room without fail rather late in the afternoon every day. I would have thought it could have been taken care of by 1pm at least, especially since I was out of the hotel relatively early every morning. Three out of the four days I happened to have returned to rest a bit when the maid came...so that was a bit awkward for all involved. Minor points, though, really. The hotel has no glaring faults and is perfectly acceptable as a generic, 4-star property.

“Better then Expected”

very nice looking hotel. definitely worth being a 4 star instead of 3. breakfast has a wide range of foods internet is free and you can print without cost modern looking and not far from central top floor are the gym and heated spa/pool which are very welcoming. also a view of the surroundings from the top floor. on a quite street, close to banks, currency xchange, restaurants, and shops. alot of business people stay in this hotel. I loved the foyer area the most where there are many leather lounge chairs to sit on whilst waiting for tour bus/taxis or just relaxing. room is very modern and clean. view from room is ok. got a tiny view of the ocean. however the bathroom is way too small for comfort.

Maybe in the Centro where there are shops and people. less walking or going by taxi

“Consistently wonderful for 5 nights”

The breakfast was quite nice, and I had one dinner at the hotel, which was surprisingly delicious and affordable. The view in the gym is nice, but there was no AC, and it was hot in the end of January. I enjoyed running on the Rambla instead, which is very close. I would love to stay here again. Very clean, quiet and comfortable.

“Very convenient hotel”

It's medium size hotel, well communicated and located, near the golf court, the "Rambla" and restaurant. Very important: it's a very quiet hotel. Staff is very helpful and kind.

“Ideal Hotel for business in Montevideo”

The Tryp Hotel Montevideo is actually named the Melia Comfort Montevideo and it is part of the Melia Chain of hotels from Spain. Wi-fi, room service, gym, pool and all of the conveniences expected of a US hotel in South America. Highly recommend for business travelers in Montevideo.

Las Carretas Shopping Mall withing walking distance from the hotel. Restaurants, Movie Theaters and clothing stores. 2 blocks from the beach and near a golf course. Location-Location-Location.
