This hotel is an oasis in the Sacred Valley with lovely grounds. The restaurant is very nice. The staff is extremely helpful- they were responsive to emails before we arrived and provided great assistance while we were there. We went to the train for Machu Picchu from here one day and a tour of the Sacred Valley the next day.
We chose Urumbamba over Cusco and Ollytaytambo mostly for the location so that we could cover the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Location was good. Right across the street is bus pickup for those willing to do bus or combi. It was convenient for our day trip to Pisac and next day train to Machu Picchu and then short 30 min to Olly. The train originates at Urumbamba and it worked out well for centralizing the location. The hotel is deceptive looking from the road but once you enter it has a lot of character. Every single staff person was very helpful and pleasant. I would say this was very noticeable. It was great attitude like they really wanted your business and a very influential factor in rating this hotel. Breakfast was ok, rather plain but ok. Great value and it left a good enough impression that I noticed this 'san agustin' hotel brand when I will need hotel again whether Urumbamba or not.

Face it, Peru is not relaxing from flights, hiking, altitude, etc., ... our stay at the Sacred Dreams was the perfect way to break up the trip and we only wish we would have spend more than 2 nights to really settle in.
The taxi driver had a hard time finding the hotel, along the road there was a lot of shabby
structures, the sign for the hotel was small. I didn't know what to expect . Once I stepped
inside ,it was absolutely stunning a hidden paradise , beautiful relaxing setting , next to the
river and the mountains. I highly recommend it , you wouldn't be disappointed .

This 100+ year-old restored/renovated/modernized hotel provides a pristine setting for a wonderful, enjoyable experience. It is quiet quiet quiet!! The lovely garden sitting areas, the inner courtyard, and the ambiance provide unforgetable memories. We wouldn't stay anywhere else if we repeated this journey 10 more times! The rooms are rustically comfortable, but the bathrooms are strikingly modern - from the stone-wall enclosed shower (how refreshing was the shower with strong pressure/flow to provide a massage-like experience. The monestary's chapel provided for even quieter moments. Can you say "peaceful calm?" The downside? The hotel staff need to be re-trained; their attitude is lackadaisical at best and their interaction with guests is best characterized as "detached." Nobody seemed to take ownership for screw-ups. Taxi arrangements - made twice, and in both English and Spanish - fell through the cracks. We three waited for naught, in the rain at the train station, for the pre-arranged taxi that never came. No apology, no excuses, nothing! (other than "I'll pass this one to the responsible (irresponsible?) person. Stay here for the charm and memories, but do NOT relay upon hotel staff....do everything yourself and you'll come away with a great hotel experience.

This was a very nice experience. We were the only people at the hotel. Not sure why but we were treated so very well. There was a bit of a mixup about our room at first. After discussion we were taken to We asked about a restaurant that says it has in the information and were told there isn't one except for the complimentary breakfast so the man offered to drive us to a reastaurant and he also picked us up. We got to pick the time for breakfast and it was outstanding. Better then any I have had in several places so far in Peru.
Our six day stay at La Cailla lodge was fabulous! Chris and Rhomina are very
accommodating innkeepers. This was my first visit to Peru and they went above and beyond. they assisted me in obtaining all our Machu Pichu tickets and transportation to and from. They were a wealth of information on the local area. All that and the feeling that you are staying with old friends. My place to stay when I return.
