"Great hotel."
Great hotel and great location. Rooms are a little small but I think that is standard for NYC. I will now always stay there.

"great location"
The hotel is in a great location on the upper west side. The staff was great and the hotel rooms were very modern and up to date. My only criticism was the difficulty regulating the heat in the room. The first night we had to turn off the heat completely yet still felt like we were in a sauna. We notified the desk the next morning and they immediately moved us to a different room that was much more comfortable and actually a little on the cool side.

"Nice hotel close to Central Park"
Loved the location of this hotel. It was a $7 cab ride to Times Square & Rockefeller Center. Short walk to Central Park. The hotel lobby is beautiful with a nice bar. We unfortunately didn't get to check out the rooftop. It's closed Monday/Tuesday's and had Christmas parties the rest of our stay. The room was small, but clean. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

"Lovely stay"
My husband and I have just returned from 7 nights in New York, it was my third visit and my husband's first. We chose The Lucerne because we wanted a traditional NYC at Christmas experience, something more relaxed for the week we were there. The Lucerne was ideal! We stayed in a Superior King room on the 5th floor at the back which was perfect, although we didn't have much of a view, it was quiet. We had plenty of space and all the facilities we needed in our room plus it was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was really useful having access to free WiFi for planning days out. We were able to use the business suite to check-in for our return flight. The hotel reception staff, door men and concierge were always on hand to help with queries, bags and hailing taxis; many reviews commented on the surly service but we didn't find it so. It's a nice neighbourhood, walking distance to Central Park and the Subway is so accessible for exploring Downtown. We would definitely book The Lucerne if we go back to NYC again. "Nice Matin" did a nice breakfast but we were looking for something a little more rustic and can recommend "Good Enough to Eat" a couple of blocks up (try the Lumberjack). Sarabeth's is a good but pricey brunch and busy at the weekends! "Blondies" over the road was easy for catching the sport with a diner style bar snack (their wings are rated!). Insomnia Cookies - yum! The rest of the time we ate Downtown as the subway made it so accessible.

"Always enjoy returning"
Hotel Newton is our go-to hotel in NYC when we visit our Barnard College daughter. We love its convenience to the Subway, proximity to Columbia, and overall charm. Definitely recommend this fine local boutique hotel to travelers.

"Convieniently located on the west side near MET"
Our room was not available to us upon check in. I had called to verify that we were arriving late 11pm as we had tickets to a show. They confirmed, but when we arrived, there was no room available. The desk clerk made every effort to accommodate us in another hotel nearby which included taxi fare getting there and room credit as there was only a fabulous Jr. Suite available. Credit was given in a timely manner.

"Very Charming"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Milburn. It was in a very nice part of New York on the Upper West side, with some nice restaurants and shopping nearby. The MTA was convenient, and it was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Manhattan. It's just a few blocks from Central Park, which is good for a nice walk. The hotel had a very cozy reading room, and although they didn't light the fireplace while we were there, it was comfortable to enjoy the morning newspaper. Breakfast in their dining area was very good, and has a sufficient number of choices. Our room was very comfortable, and they offered bathrobes for guests who didn't pack one. The kitchenette was convenient for keeping snacks, coffee maker and electric tea pot were nice to have available. I would stay here again.

"Upper West Side NY, NY Hotel is Awsome"
My wife and I stayed at the hotel in Early Spring. We thought it was very nice, clean, and quiet. The bathroom also looked new, but small. The front desk service was also very good, They were kind enough to change our room from the third floor to the first floor. This was good considering there are no elevators and my wife is Pregnant. Keep in mind that you do have to go up one flight of steps to get the the lobby. Someone with disabilities may not find the hotel accomodating for themselves. The hoel is also very close to a subway station. Overall, we both liked the hotal and would stay there again.

Pocket Guide: New York Upper West Side Hotels

Some bemoan that the Upper West Side has become a version of the Upper East Side. Case in point: Columbus Circle’s Time Warner Center, one of New York’s priciest real estate. The Upper West Side includes the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the American Museum of Natural History, and Columbia University. Harlem, the legendary African American neighborhood, lies north and caps Manhattan.
