A terrific place to stroll Oberammergau
An adorable and spacious lodging right in the center( ok. On a side street so no traffic noise at all). Bounteous breakfast. Great staff at the desk and the breakfast lady was a sweet and efficient worker. My room was prepped every day while I was enjoying breakfast. Lovely sound of church bells the only sound at night. I’m not a tv watcher but there were flat screen TVs too.

Very clean, newly remodeled bath, nice size room, beds were a little uncomfortable, no a/c so street noise was often through the night. We would visit again. Staff very kind, found key easily for after hours check in. We were there for only 12 hours.

Convenient stop over in Oberammergau
Pleasant place to stay in the Oberammergau/Etta area. Parking available and many dining options nearby. Staff was pleasant and available. Fairly standard room, but convenient place to stay as a stop over to the many local sites.

Can't say enough good. Wonderful hospitality, clean comfortable homey room. Breakfast well worth the $8euros. The only knock is to bring your own soap. I'm glad we did.

Cozy, charming place to stay
Stayed here for a second time, since we loved it the first time around. Still a great place. Room was spacious, breakfast delicious and service friendly. Only complaint is that the Wifi went out at night so I had to get up early to send some work. Still a great hotel and we'll stay again next time.

Hello Melissa, thanks for your review and coming back for the second time to our Hotel. In terms of the wifi, we have a night shut off btw. 2AM and 5AM. This reflects our idea of eco tourism, to give our guests at least for a short time at night a gap of electro smog free wifi area. . In terms of health and part of our ecology strategy ( please see our Umwelt Siegel, Umweltpakt Bayern ), this is on of these steps, but sure we understand that some are in need of 24/7 wifi access. Nice hotel but check out time in morning too early
very nice hotel however check in time (mid afternoon) and check out time (much too early) made us feel that we could not really relax. In the morning we had to get up early and rush thru breakfast so as to be able to take a quick shower and pack our bags to leave by 10 am. We came during the "low" season so there were very few guests in the hotel. I found it surprising that the hotel needed 5 hours between check out and check in time to ready a room when most of the rooms were empty. It would be nice to allow guests a relaxing morning rather then rush them out of the hotel so early.

I booked 2 rooms, both the same, on the basis that they would be as shown in the picture for the rooms that I booked. When we (my husband and I and another couple) arrived at the hotel they only had one of the rooms that I booked. For the second room, they gave us instead an "apartment"which they said was an upgrade. This second room/apartment was not as nice as the room that I had booked. I asked the attendant if they had another room and was told that all were taken. This apartment contained old tired furniture, was poorly decorated, did not appear very clean and smelled (like cigarette smoke). There was a bed in the entranceway on the main level (not made up) and a second bed up a narrow steep flight of stairs. We chose to sleep upstairs rather than be in the entranceway. The bathroom looked like it had been remodelled but it still needed a new shower stall. The bathroom was downstairs on the main level so we had to go up and down to it from our bedroom. The breakfast was fine, but this was the only good point about the accommodation. If I book an accommodation based on availability of that room and based on a picture of what that room looks like (along with a description of room particulars) I expect to get that or a very similar room. This was a case of a room substitute that was in no way an upgrade. I expect that the room I have booked is reserved for me. We were quite disappointed about the accommodation. We would not return to this hotel.

Hello and thanks for staying with us. With your one night stay during Oktoberfest time, we are very limited in offering multi choices due all is booked out pretty much. In your case we upgraded you to a 80m2 apartment with two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, balcony from a 22m2 standard room without balcony that you booked. The furniture that we provide is coming with our stye of the house, means yes partly typical bavarian farmer furniture with a antic shabby look. Having the impression, that the room was not properly cleaned can happen, just inform us right away, we send you housekeeping solving this matter. Thanks, that you enjoyed our breakfast buffet. Anyhow, we are sure sorry that you were not happy with your stay. We sure take your complaint serious and try to adopt even better to guests requests in the future. All the best

Nice welcome and charming room. Hotel in center of town and convenient to restaurants. They offer free cookies in in the stairwell up to the rooms--- not sure if I loved this tempataion or not! Nice touch though. Internet worked well and breakfast was okay. Coffee good.

Very good hotel.
Hotel was right in the center of town but off the main street, so it was quiet and convenient. Room was large and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Would recommend to friends and family.

The location couldn't have been better and our room was warm and comfortable. We had a nice balcony overlooking the town as an added bonus. Breakfast was a bit basic for the extra amount we had to pay for it, but otherwise a nice place.

A Beautiful Hotel In A Gorgeous Setting
This hotel was the nicest and largest of all our hotels in Bavaria. The bathroom was large with a double vanity. This room also had a kitchenette. The balcony was an added plus. The breakfast was excellent and the staff was very friendly. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to other visitors.

Staff. We're very friendly and accommodating. Room was HUGE, and had a great little back patio with a view of the mountains. We went in June, so not so busy, but I bet it is PACKED during ski season. Wold definitely stay here again, and wifi and parking a definite plus! Didn't do breakfast only because we were sleeping in after a long drive, but sounded great!

My wife and I visited during the off season and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner gave us a town map upon check in and marked some of the local sites for us before showing us to our clean, comfortable and spacious room. Because it was the off season, they were not serving dinner or breakfast at the hotel, but the owner recommended two other nearby places to eat which ended up being delicious. We were very happy with our stay and look forward to booking this hotel again in the near future!

Definitely more like a bed and breakfast, but perfect for the town. You can walk to all restaurants and shops. The room was big and clean and you felt like you were at home. The breakfast was also very nice in a quaint room.If you want to experience a true town feel stay here!

Quite, clean and friendly hotel.
Very clean and big room! Central location surrounded by beautiful scenery. We would have liked to do more out door activities but we were unlucky with the weather. The spot is about an hours drive from some of the tourist spots like Neuschwanstein.

We had a wonderful stay in this neat and traditional style Bavarian gasthaus. We promised ourelves we sould come back again some day and stay a bit longer. Wonderfully located in the middle of this quaint village, we enjoyed walking arond the streets and shops and to eat at one of the great nearly restaurants.

Booked this a couple of nights before arrival when on a touring holiday. We stayed 2 nights. Great little hotel, with excellent location in the centre of the village. Large comfortable room, great staff, who spoke excellent English. Breakfast was simple, buffet style, but good quality and unlimited tea/coffee. Car parking in front of the hotel free. All in all an excellent stay.

Oberammergau is quaint, but some advice...
If you're looking to go to Neuschwanstein castle, expect to dedicate the entire day as it is 1.5 hours by bus or 45 minutes by car. If taking the bus, be aware of departure times, because Oberammergau is not a highly traveled city (for example at time of writing, the last bus for Oberammergau left at 6pm). This was too early considering the how busy Neuschwanstein/Schwangau was. The hotel itself is very nice; has a very of the alps, the people are friendly, staff is kind and 'real.' When looking for the hotel, "Hotel Garni" is more clearly noted than anything else. Overall, the hotel is wonderful if visiting this region - a nice bavarian town with a homey yet touristy feel.

Wonderful Hotel!
This hotel is top class. We stayed there for a week and were very kindly upgraded from a hotel room to an apartment, which gave us more room and a little kitchen area as well. The hotel is small, maybe only eight rooms or so, and the owners and staff really have the personal touch with their guests. Our room was spotless when we arrived and kept pristine throughout our stay. The rate didn't include breakfast, but we opted to have it anyway and the standard and selection was great. The hotel is right in the centre of oberammergau, and conveniently located for the train and bus. Really enjoyed our stay!
