“Fine for small kids but a bit chaotic for just grownups”
This hotel is in a fantastic location at the foot of the Olympic ski-jump and the famous gorge at Partenkirchen. It is busy and quite friendly but is very child-focused - fine for them but you fall over buggies in the entrance hall and old people need to watch their step. Common areas a bit scruffy but rooms were clean and well-decorated, breakfast pleasant but a queue for the coffee machine. However the village is lovely and the walks from the hotel beautiful.
“Family Oriented hotel”
our stay at the hotel was good. although it was more family oriented than we thought. it's definitely fit for those with little tots, as toy bikes were at the lobby ready for riding, and kid-friendly stuff were painted on their walls. the staff is friendly and speaks english. pillows are not so pillow-like as they are too too soft and your head will sink in it no matter how you shape it. so if you can afford to bring your own do so. they didn't have small face towels for use, if you'd like one for your bath or showers go ahead and bring them as well. otherwise, everything was pretty clean. oh and familotel is really like a big house, it seemed that the water can get cold when the hot water's been used up. but that can just be because everyone was using it up at the same time. otherwise, good breakfast with breads, fruits, yogurts, eggs and meats (both cold & sometimes sausages). if you have kids, this is a great place. if you would like more peace & quiet, you may want to choose a different place. hope this helps.
“Good Hotel for a good price”
Familotel is for people who want to save money while staying near the Alps. The hotel felt very much like a nursery or elementary school. The bad was comfy, the staff was friendly, and the rates were great.
“Would certainly go back”
See the above remarks in the first box. A fresh coat of paint and some new carpeting in the hallways would be a plus.
“A beautiful setting with a great hotel”
I stayed only a couple of nights, but the hotel was wonderful. It has a beautiful view of the Zugspitze and the Garmisch ski jump. The breakfast was great and the overall experience wonderful. The hotel was very quiet in the evening. I fully recommend it.
“Close to the mountains”
The staff were always friendly, happy and courteous. The breakfast was excellent. The staff helped me considerably when I had dropped my wallet in the Alte Kirche and thought it had been stolen. They got me in touch with VISA. There was no air - con in the bedroom but that did not really worry me. The hotel is right next to the Ski Stadion and there is a cable car right next to it called the Eckbauerbahn. This takes you up to a cafe/restaurant/bar with stunning views of the alps. Beware the Zugspitze cable car or the funicular railway. They each cost 47 euros! The Alpenhof restaurant in Garmisch is to be recommended. The buses are free to hotel guests. I did not use my car for 4 days!
“Gem at the Alps”
The Hotel sits at the base of the ski slopes, a walking distance from an olympic ski jump. In spring/summer when we stayed it was very quiet - away from the town center. The Hotel was quaint and very nice. The staff was excellent and the food very good. The morning found our names on the table welcoming us to breakfast. They gave us passes that allowed us to ride the local buses for 24 hours (bus stop 1 block away). We were able to purchase a full day pass to ride trains and cable cars up and down the mountain peeks at Zugspitze. Awesome sights! The Hotel was clean, neat, caters to families with young children but many non-family people were staying there. Bikes were available for riding, hiking trails available right at the mountain bases, center of town within walking distance with shops and restaurants. Hotel catered to our needs and our language. Don't want too many to know about this gem - not to spoil its charm, but we would return to this hotel on any future trips.
“Bavaria at its best!”
This hotel met all of our expectations. A great location, a clean, comfortable room, a friendly and extremely helpful staff and a nice breakfast buffet. It was so nice that most of the staff spoke English. They were extremely helpful by looking up directions on the computer for sights we wanted to visit. They also checked the status of our flight before leaving. The hotel was family friendly and very quiet. The location was very convenient to town and the autobaun for excursions outside of town. The only thing missing was a vending machine or mini refrigerator for a cold drink after hours.
“what a little gem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
spot on hotel with people that care about the traveller.rooms great, warm and comfortable not to big but sound for what we needed. family run hotel with plenty of familys staying there. breakfast had good choice and although we didnt eat evening meal it smelt fantastic. good alpine views and we found the pool and sauna great after skiing. cheap for drinks in the hotel too. one little downside is its a good ten min walk into town but only two mins by car. A real gem of a find and would recommend to all.i will be back.
“Das Hotel liegt in der Nähe der Olympiasprungschanze”
Das Hotel liegt in der Nähe der Olympiasprungschanze. Zum Zentrum sind es mit dem Ortsbus nur wenige Minuten, da die Haltestelle ca. 50 m vom Hotel entfernt ist und damit eine gute Alternative zum PKW darstellt. Mit dem Service im Hotel war ich zufrieden und kann dieses Hotel - preisklassenbezogen - durchaus weiterempfehlen.
