“Fine for small kids but a bit chaotic for just grownups”

This hotel is in a fantastic location at the foot of the Olympic ski-jump and the famous gorge at Partenkirchen. It is busy and quite friendly but is very child-focused - fine for them but you fall over buggies in the entrance hall and old people need to watch their step. Common areas a bit scruffy but rooms were clean and well-decorated, breakfast pleasant but a queue for the coffee machine. However the village is lovely and the walks from the hotel beautiful.

Area recommendations
Centre of Partenkirchen very pretty with nice restaurants serving local fare.

“Family Oriented hotel”

our stay at the hotel was good. although it was more family oriented than we thought. it's definitely fit for those with little tots, as toy bikes were at the lobby ready for riding, and kid-friendly stuff were painted on their walls. the staff is friendly and speaks english. pillows are not so pillow-like as they are too too soft and your head will sink in it no matter how you shape it. so if you can afford to bring your own do so. they didn't have small face towels for use, if you'd like one for your bath or showers go ahead and bring them as well. otherwise, everything was pretty clean. oh and familotel is really like a big house, it seemed that the water can get cold when the hot water's been used up. but that can just be because everyone was using it up at the same time. otherwise, good breakfast with breads, fruits, yogurts, eggs and meats (both cold & sometimes sausages). if you have kids, this is a great place. if you would like more peace & quiet, you may want to choose a different place. hope this helps.

“Good Hotel for a good price”

Familotel is for people who want to save money while staying near the Alps. The hotel felt very much like a nursery or elementary school. The bad was comfy, the staff was friendly, and the rates were great.

Area recommendations
I reccoment the Zugspite. Its a moutain there that is the highest point in Germany! They have a gondola that can take you up whit a great veiw. Or if you want to ski you can just take the street car upt to the top.
Nightlife
There is a club called Music Cafe and it is a lot of fun. They play hip-hop, and other kinds of dance music. connected to Music Cafe is a bar called Peaches. Peaches is alot of fun too, and in my eyes Music Cafe is for the younger people 17-28 and Peaches is for the older people 29 and up. Its worth checking out.

“Would certainly go back”

See the above remarks in the first box. A fresh coat of paint and some new carpeting in the hallways would be a plus.

Area recommendations
This hotel is located on the Garmisch side of Garmisch Partenkirchen, These towns ore easy walking communities and are well served with hiking trails, sidewalks and buses. Awide variety of restaurants and cafes. There is a large shopping district north and west of the bahnhof, all in walking distance from the Hotel Leiner. I would use this hotel again if were in this area of Germany.

“A beautiful setting with a great hotel”

I stayed only a couple of nights, but the hotel was wonderful. It has a beautiful view of the Zugspitze and the Garmisch ski jump. The breakfast was great and the overall experience wonderful. The hotel was very quiet in the evening. I fully recommend it.

Area recommendations
Yes. The neighborhood is quiet and very family friendly. If you are looking to hit the clubs, then do not stay here. If you are looking for a nice, comfortable hotel then this is the place for you.

“Close to the mountains”

The staff were always friendly, happy and courteous. The breakfast was excellent. The staff helped me considerably when I had dropped my wallet in the Alte Kirche and thought it had been stolen. They got me in touch with VISA. There was no air - con in the bedroom but that did not really worry me. The hotel is right next to the Ski Stadion and there is a cable car right next to it called the Eckbauerbahn. This takes you up to a cafe/restaurant/bar with stunning views of the alps. Beware the Zugspitze cable car or the funicular railway. They each cost 47 euros! The Alpenhof restaurant in Garmisch is to be recommended. The buses are free to hotel guests. I did not use my car for 4 days!

Area recommendations
Partenkirchen is older than Garmisch but there is more going on in Garmisch. Don't miss a walk around the Kurpark, the 'Musik im Park' and the pedestrianised road called Am Park. Take a trip to the Eibsee by bus.
When to go
July and August are really hot. June and September would be cooler.
Getting around
Use the buses. They are free for hotel guests.
Must see
Eckbauerbahn for the mountain views. Eibsee for the mountain lake experience.
Dining
Alpenhof restaurant in the Am Kurpark pedestrian road in Garmisch.
Events and shows
The 'Musik im Park' shows are free.

“Gem at the Alps”

The Hotel sits at the base of the ski slopes, a walking distance from an olympic ski jump. In spring/summer when we stayed it was very quiet - away from the town center. The Hotel was quaint and very nice. The staff was excellent and the food very good. The morning found our names on the table welcoming us to breakfast. They gave us passes that allowed us to ride the local buses for 24 hours (bus stop 1 block away). We were able to purchase a full day pass to ride trains and cable cars up and down the mountain peeks at Zugspitze. Awesome sights! The Hotel was clean, neat, caters to families with young children but many non-family people were staying there. Bikes were available for riding, hiking trails available right at the mountain bases, center of town within walking distance with shops and restaurants. Hotel catered to our needs and our language. Don't want too many to know about this gem - not to spoil its charm, but we would return to this hotel on any future trips.

Area recommendations
Bus/Train/Cog Train/Cable car rides to top of mountain peek at Zugspitze. Center of town at Garmisch to shops and restaurants. Many other cable car rides available to other peeks. Travel into Austria in a very short distance or at peak of Zugspitze by cable car.
When to go
We went in mid-June. Not crowded at all.
Getting there
Drove by car, easy roads to find. Left from Munich - about 1.5 hour drive. Regional rail service is accessible in town center.
What to pack
Light clothing at base but jacket for the top of mountain - snow still on the ground at the peak.
Dining
Ate at Hotel, fine food. Other places in town center.

“Bavaria at its best!”

This hotel met all of our expectations. A great location, a clean, comfortable room, a friendly and extremely helpful staff and a nice breakfast buffet. It was so nice that most of the staff spoke English. They were extremely helpful by looking up directions on the computer for sights we wanted to visit. They also checked the status of our flight before leaving. The hotel was family friendly and very quiet. The location was very convenient to town and the autobaun for excursions outside of town. The only thing missing was a vending machine or mini refrigerator for a cold drink after hours.

Area recommendations
I would recommend going to the Partnach Gorge and Ebsee Lake. They were very beautiful. We enjoyed every restaurant we ate at in town. The food is excellent.
Getting around
I would definately recommend a car with a GPS. It is very easy to navigate the roads.
Must see
We enjoyed Munich and the Munich Zoo. We took a trip to Saltzburg that was fabulous. I would recommend the Sound of Music tour. The Linderhof Palace was fantastic as well as Walhalla in Regensburg. If you want to see a gorgeous view visit the Eagles Nest in Berchangarten. There are so many beautiful places to see. We stood for 10 days and wished we had another week!

“what a little gem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

spot on hotel with people that care about the traveller.rooms great, warm and comfortable not to big but sound for what we needed. family run hotel with plenty of familys staying there. breakfast had good choice and although we didnt eat evening meal it smelt fantastic. good alpine views and we found the pool and sauna great after skiing. cheap for drinks in the hotel too. one little downside is its a good ten min walk into town but only two mins by car. A real gem of a find and would recommend to all.i will be back.

Traveller's tip
garmish is a fantastic place to visit. town big enough too explore with plenty of great shops. the real secret is the skiing. snow was the best i have skied on and the drinks and food two thirds as cheap as our french cousins. bang on

“Das Hotel liegt in der Nähe der Olympiasprungschanze”

Das Hotel liegt in der Nähe der Olympiasprungschanze. Zum Zentrum sind es mit dem Ortsbus nur wenige Minuten, da die Haltestelle ca. 50 m vom Hotel entfernt ist und damit eine gute Alternative zum PKW darstellt. Mit dem Service im Hotel war ich zufrieden und kann dieses Hotel - preisklassenbezogen - durchaus weiterempfehlen.
