Absolutely wonderful experience at this hotel. Everything was top class and the location is awesome for exploring in all four directions. Everybody says that Singapore is expensive but if you keep it local and choose wisely (ie don't go for the typical tourist stuff like Clarke Quay) then food is cheap and there are bargains to be had.
From the hostel you have easy access to major attractions. The airport is about 40 min. away by subway. You need to change 3 times, but it is very easy to move from one platform to the other and to follow the directions provided on the hostel page. Singapore is very well organized, so you have few chances to get lost... The hostel rooms are clean and each bed has nearby a lamp and an international plug. No adapter is needed. Breakfast is basic - cereals, coffee, toast and something to spread on it. The bathrooms might need cleaning more than 1x/ day if I may give a suggestion to the management...
All in all I had a good night sleep, a nice breakfast on the terrace, with a view over Singapore river and the Asian Civilization Museum.
The location in the heart of the city is great! Not only is a ton within walking distance, it's a block and a half from a major hub for public transportation, meaning it's easy to get anywhere else in the city as well. The concierge service is great, helping me out on multiple occasions.

Grand Park City Hall pampers its guests with specially designed furnishings to make their stay a luxurious oneMore
This is a good mid-range hotel with reasonable prices. It's strongest feature is their great location. They are a block from the Chijmes complex (which has some great eating/drinking places), two blocks from Raffles City/City Hall MRT (which is an interchange station and easy to get around to the rest of Singapore); just a block from SMU and the Bras Basah MRT (on the new Circle line). and a block and half from Bugis MRT/Bugis shopping area. Local hawker centers are nearby as well.
Hotel staff are very friendly and a Chinese restaurant is on-site, as well as the hotel restaurant/morning buffet which is quite fine (a good mix of local and some western food). Just don't expect a 5 star hotel experience here as this is an older hotel that was once one of the top hotels in Singapore but now is more of a reasonably priced hotel (if there is such a thing in Singapore). Everything works in the hotel, it has a nice attractive lobby, good service, etc. On-site do-it-yourself laundry, gym and decent hotel pool are also available and kept clean. The in-room bathrooms are quite fine, and in-room TV and fridge are modern, and bed is comfortable. However the room furnishings, carpet, chairs, etc. are a bit dated and on the used side.

"Small boutique hotel, but in a convenient location"
Had a small studio with a large single bed. Hardly had space to move around, but acceptable, since I was out most of the day. Very clean and original arty designs everywhere. Breakfast was ok, but can be improved. Staff was very friendly, efficient and very helpful on all occasions. I will stay there again, but get a bigger room.
