"Nice but basic room does not have natural light"
Hotel was surprisingly nice as we were expecting a budget hotel. Common areas and rooms are well designed and have an upscale bouticy feel. I had issues with the fact that our room did not receive any natural light so it was impossible to know if the sun had risen. I felt like in a dungeon. My partner did not have any issues with this. My suggestion, don't get the most basic room.

"Historic and hip!"
My daughter and I loved this hotel! Perfect location-walked everywhere from our SF "home". Our suite had two large windows set in the original brick wall. Couch, coffee table, huge TV, Comfy bed with ceiling fan above and bathroom with vessel sink and huge shower. Impeccably clean!! Wonderful, welcoming staff! Would stay again!!!

"Affordable downtown luxury"
We were welcomed at the street when we arrived by shared shuttle. We loved the pineapple-accent cupcakes and water. It would have been helpful to know ahead of time that the cab would cost less than the shared shuttle, when I inquired about airport transportation.

"Nice hotel, convenient to BART and MUNI"
Nice hotel for considerably less than large brands nearby, easy walking to BART, MUNI, and cable cars at Union Square. Upscale furnishings, but it is a boutique hotel, so don't look for huge exercise areas, lobbies, coffee shops, etc.

"Nice hotel"
Great hotel! Tonga restaurant was very good. Our room was very nice and clean. The best part about the room was the bed. It was very comfortable. The only downside to our room was the air conditioning. It was a little warm in the room. When we arrived the air was set to 65 but the room temp was at 75. We asked the front desk to have someone to come look at it when we went out for dinner. When we came back the room temp was still at 75. Also the sink in the bathroom was a little clogged. Overall the hotel is excellent and location is nice too close to everything. Would definitely stay here again.

"Excellent Location, Friendly Staff, Price Is Right"
I walked into a well-loved hotel, it is definitely lacking updates but the staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel and rooms were clean. The elevator is the oldest elevator I have ever been in which is a little nerve-wracking. BUT parking was not expensive for overnight parking across the street, the hotel was well priced for how close it is to EVERYTHING in downtown San Fran. Loved my stay, would definitely come back.

"Mother-Daughter trip"
This boutique hotel is beautiful. The location is great, we walked to Union Square and caught the BART to places we wanted to visit. We enjoyed complimentary breakfast, snacks, and evening wine and tea at the hotel. We were in room 36, at 1:45 am Thursday experienced a 15 minute burst if noise from a pub across the street. Everything was enjoyable!
