It is outside of the main hubbub of Ubud, instead of cars and crowds of tourists you are surrounded by gardens and terraced rice patties. The villas are immaculate and so special. The indoor/outdoor living quarters and plunge pool combine comfort and luxury to make you never want to leave. There is a free shuttle bus to take you to Ubud and back throughout the day. But with a setting like Villa Semana, you might just want to stay. Things to enjoy on site: restaurant, pool, spa, creek, private tour of local village and rice patties. The only reason I gave it 4 stars on room comfort instead of 5 is that the bed was quite firm. Nevertheless, I'll be back. Loved it.

When you step into hanging gardens it's like visiting your maternal first cousins who haven't seen you in 10 years and are eagerly awaiting your arrival. Everybody and I mean everybody is amazing, everything is amazing from the moment you arrive... even the noisy gecko (whom was our neighbour). Saying that you then won't want to leave and when you do you will yearn to stay more. It's more breathtaking than the pictures, sounds as well as the sights. There are no superlatives worthy of it. However if I was to break it down, paradise wouldn't be far off and I'm sure it's the envy of every architect or humming bird that hasn't yet discovered it. There should be a patent on this place. Luxury in the forest. Thank you for a wonderful time I doubt I will ever experience such greatness again, unless I return.
I spent a week at The Chedi Club, Ubud. As this was my first trip to Asia and traveling alone, I really needed transportation to/from the airport. I heard horror stories of taxi experiences and that the airport was a bit hectic. My brief experience there was accurate and along came my driver who knew a lot about the area while we made the hour long trip to the resort. I felt a great sense of security with the security guard and gate at the entrance. The resort is very quiet and provides a sense that nothing else is around and yet there is a busy town right outside. The accommodations were spotless each day I was there and many items are included in the stay such as minibar, snacks, fresh organic fruit, robe, slippers, you name it. My room was the perfect size and as I lucked out with perfect weather. The bathroom was amazing, it's actually outdoors. Beautiful tub and toiletries and strong hair dryer which is rare in hotels. There is an infinity pool and because there are only 21 villas total, there was never a crowd at the pool. Fresh water is brought out with sunscreen. It really was these added touches that made the experience even better. I participated in a cooking class, almost all spa treatments, a traditional Balinese dance and dinner and even rice trekking. I loved the fact that many of the activities I wanted to do was right on property and reasonably priced. Staff is awesome and I couldn't have asked for a better place. One of the best vacations ever experienced.

Amazing grounds and villas. Restaurants were good quality and the activities on offer are enjoyable. We had a late flight and the staff really looked after us, providing a later check out, showers in the spa after we killed time in Ubud and then a transfer to the airport. Perfect hotel for relaxation.
Fantastic hotel and the most amazing staff! We booked a pool view room. Only down side was there was work going on next door and was really noisy! We asked to be moved and they did say they would upgrade us to a room away from the noise. We did look at it but we didn't think the room was as nice, so we decided to stay in the one we had. It looks like the work will be going on for quite a while, so take this into consideration if booking a pool view room. The pool we practically had to ourself and was lovely. It could do with cleaning each morning as flowers floating it in because they had fallen from the trees over night - But not a big issue.
The only other down side to booking a pool room is you don't get the view you get if you book a villa, but obviously this is a lot more expensive. Over all the room was great, food was lovely and staff were amazing. If you can afford it then book a villa to get the view as it really is amazing!
It is too far to walk to anything but the hotel does provide a shuttle bus that goes every hour from the hotel between 9-5 for free so that was good. Its a shame it doesn't do it later but you can just get a taxi back for about £4 after 5pm. We ate in ubud most nights as its cheaper and lots of choice!
We had a refreshing and relaxing experience at the Maya Ubud. This hotel is a piece of paradise just a short distance from the Ubud village. The hotel is right between rice fields and a beautiful river valley. The food was excellent, the beds are comfortable, our villa was nice. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the facilities are kept in good condition. The fitness club is modern, and the pools are beautiful. We also took advantage of the spa facilities, and the massage treatment and staff were excellent. As vegetarians we found good food choices, and the hotel also has fire dances on the weekends which was a nice surprise for us when we arrived on Saturday evening after a full day of travel.
Overall I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. My only note of caution to people is that the villas are right beside the forest, so be aware that there will be insects in the room, so if you are squeamish about bugs, you might want to stay in the main hotel. Also note, that this hotel is better suited for couples of families with older children
