The view from the patio where we had breakfast every morning was simply divine! There's always birds, ducks and chicken around.
The whole setting was full of character - from the walk to the bale, to the all-wooden architecture, to the bathroom. There the mosquito net over the bed was a nice practical and romantic touch. No issues with bugs - insect repellent and mosquito coils were always available.
Breakfast was nice and the variety was comprehensive.
The only thing to note is that the location of the hotel is not exactly near Ubud town. There's a free shuttle serivce from the hotel to the town, but traffic is commonly congested. We once had to wait over 1hr for a pick up from town back to the hotel. But that's probably the way things are at the town area, nothing much that the hotel could do (except perhaps to inform us of possible delay given the time of day).
At first I did not want to review these villas as I wanted to keep it a secret....
But the staff and resort deserve to be praised . This is a wonderful resort - only 8 Villas
It is your own slice of heaven . Close enough to town to walk or hire a scooter and tour the streets and restaurants further afield . Very friendly and professional staff make you feel like your at home without intruding
Just mesmerized as our driver drove into the resort compound where all the landscaping turns our minds fresh and relaxed. We were greated by real nice staffs who were at our service with a smiling face each time we needed their assistance. The highlight was the villa that we stayed in. It was a valley view villa with a pool. It was just great, like having a balinese bungalow out of nowhere. Everywhere you turned it was green giving you a calm and soothing feel. Room cleanliness could be improved slightly though. In overall we really loved it..!!!
Had an awesome time here in ubud, hotel was a couple minutes walk from the heart of it. Bed was huge and room was always cleaned to a high standard. Had breakfast cooked every morning loved the banana pancakes. Our host also arranged our day trips at the cheapest price around, he made it very easy. Would definitely be staying here again
Without a doubt the best small hotel we have ever stayed out. Beautiful room with private balcony overlooking the Ayung River Gorge. Very helpful and attentive service and care all round from this charming family-run establishment. The pool is a work of art and sits in lovely tropical gardens. We loved our stay at Sayan Terrace and will remember it fondly for a long time. Thank you very much!
We stayed here for 4 days, and had the most wonderful trip. The staff couldn't have been nicer, more attentive, polite, unintruding, and most of all smiley. Everything from the breakfast through to butler service, car service and afternoon tea were flawless. We can't wait to come back hopefully sometime in the near future. Thank you to everyone that works there.
Royal kamuela villa is by far the nicest place I have ever stayed, the service was amazing and the staff were never without a smile. Staying for 5 days as a younger couple, it was pure luxury. The villa was beautiful in every way and the pillows..!! Most comfortable thing in the world. The pool was bigger than we expected, and seeing sitting on the wall was a bonus!
We had a massage in the spa which was incredible and a private yoga lesson in our villa with the sweetest Balinese man.
I would recommend royal kamuela to anybody and everybody, you get exactly what you pay for and so much more!
Thank you for making our stay in Ubud a memorable one!
The pool down near the spa was amazing and well worth the experience. We also had time to embark on the nature walk which was informative and a great way to spend some time.
Overall this experience is one of the best I have had in all of my international travels.
A big thank you to the great staff who looked after us.

"Beautiful hotel, walking distance to central Ubud"
This hotel is the oldest in Bali and it has kept its historical charm. It is brautifully situated on a hillside by a river, surrounded by forests, flowers and statues. You truly can relax just here for the week, having access to two outdoor pools and a spa that faces the river. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had our own private deck to sit outdoors, which was lovely. I would highly recommend this place!!!
