Nice hotel to have a relaxing evening

Posted 10-Jun-2015
Pros: Very pleasant and attentive staff. Nice quiet setting.
Cons: I wish the kitchen had been open past 9 pm. I was traveling and could not arrive until about 9:15.
Location: All of Boston and New England is convenient.
I would never have chosen this hotel except for Expedia. What a pleasant surprise .. a bit off the beaten path ... but that is part of what makes it special. No Interstate traffic noise !!

Room was freezing, every other room except for the least expensive was available, but room rate stayed the same although I didn't stay in the room I intended.

Overal Pleasant

Posted 31-Jan-2015
Pros: Location
Cons: I couldn't believe there was an empty tissue box in bathroom. Attention to detail in this pricey 'spa' should be better
I checked in early evening and left early morning so I didn't have a chance to dine. Evidently construction going on in the bar area. Surprised this 'spa' didn't have gym facilities. Stayed here before and didn't have a good experience. This was better.

Traditional New England lodging at its finest

Posted 22-Jan-2015
Pros: Beautiful and tasteful hotel and rooms. Food at hotel was exceptional. Very comfortable beds
Cons: Will let you know next time I stay there
Location: Was taking my daughter to Umass so didnt have time.
I was traveling with my daughter, who was going to UMass, plus my 12 year old son. First time staying at this hotel. We arrived late at the hotel Sunday night and the staff was extemely engaging and helpful. Rooms were clean and beds were sumptuous with fine linen. We ate at the hotel restuarant and were served by a very engaging new manager of the restaurant and staff that were genuine and catered to us like we were royalty. They were polite and very attentive to all our requests. It was a very cold night so at the offering of the manager we had dinner near the fireplace sitting in soft luxurious leather sophas that were extremely comfortable. THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE for a hotel restaurant. We had mussels in garlic and calmari dishes that rivaled any New York establishment all served by a polite staff that stayed late to make sure we were taken care of . We needed to leave early so the front desk said they would have a light breakfast ready for us even before the restaurant opend in the morning. Such a great experinece even my kids were impressed and felt spoiled.

I was told there was only one room left, a $255 suite, yet the parking lot was bare and no one in the dining room. Attention to detail, cookies left in room, but were stale. Drinks were outrageously priced with a single Vodka on the rocks at $17! If I didn't have a business partner that lived in the neighborhood I wouldn't stay there. I travel multiple times a month on business and was disappointed in this hotel.

Beautiful location but not a good stay

Posted 14-Oct-2014 on Hotels
Nice place, but there was a wedding happening that night. I had a plane to catch early so I tried to turn in early. Fire alarms went off three times that night with loud people in the hall making sleep impossible. With what I paid for the room I expected much better. Might be a good place for a wedding or a party but not so good for rest.
